You know, I actually don't really know any... Certainly, there's very little guitar specific out there. Your best bet might just be to go to the book store of your local community college, or find a Barnes and Noble, and look for a intro to music theory text. In the meantime, I'd be happy to help you with any questions you might have. :yesway:

Yeah, so a basic interface and headphones should do the trick for ya. Most companies (M-Audio and Presonus for example) have packages for a couple hundred that have some basic headphones, a simple interface, software, and usually a microphone. That should be everything you need :yesway:

Many people will tell you that you need perfectly flat response from your speakers/headphones, and while you definitely don't want something with huge dips or peaks, as long as you know what they sound like and check your mixes on other speakers (which you should do no matter what), you can basically mix on anything, as you'll naturally compensate. If you need drum samples, Drumkit From Hell or Superior 2.0 are the obvious choices, and I haven't felt the need to look elsewhere.

Mostly, record and mix a lot, and don't get frustrated too quickly. It takes time to really get the feel for it and get good and know what you're doing. Years, really. But it's a really fun process once you get into it.

Are you looking to just record some demos, or really learn recording and come out with fully completed tracks? Either way, you'll need an interface, something simple like this should work great for home recording, it'll give you the option of either plugging in direct and using amp sims, or plugging in a mic and miking your cab (as well as using that mic for vocals and other things as needed). Then you'll need a decent set of headphones (especially if you're recording with a microphone, direct stuff can be done through speakers) and/or speakers. As far as headphones go, anything in the "pro" line from AKG/Sennheiser/Shure/Sony/similar in the $50+ range should be a good start, though the stuff at around the $150-200 mark is awesome. I'm less up on speakers these days and what's good, but listen to everything you can and pick what you like the sound of.

I'd take your old switch and see if the screws are in comparable spots. If so, it should fit. I think they work fine. you'll have to figure out the wiring schematic for it (easy enough online), because ibby switches are fucking weird and follow no other standard.
