I had a cheap Ibanez GSR200 forever. It played beautifully, sounded great, and I could never believe how nice it was for the model/price. Then, I sold it recently to buy a Squire HMV 5-string. It didn't take long to regret that and the Squire never really gave me that gut-level love I have with all the guitars I keep and want to play. So, I put the Squire up on Reverb and started looking around.
Then, I found this:
I hunted for the best price for a few days, then checked out Riff City (highly recommend them!) who I bought my JS32-7 from a little while back. They had great customer service and do a pro set up on every guitar & bass before they ship them. In looking at their site, I found that they offer "in cart" deals and for this bass they had an in cart deal of $60 off. While I was getting sales emails from all the big places saying it was too late to get stuff delivered for Christmas, Riff City guaranteed they could deliver. So, I mashed the buy button and three days later here she is, just in time for Christmas.
Here's a checklist of what Riff City does before shipping out the instrument. Pretty cool if you ask me:
It plays beautifully, has a lot of versatility due to the various controls and preamp settings, and, in the end gives me the gut reaction that makes me want to play it. Not to mention, it just feels like a 5-string version of the bass I mistakenly gave up.
Now to fiddle with dialing in a tone I like... (like that will ever end... )
