Yeah, any computer speakers or headphones are fine if you just need to hear what you played or any drum/backing track stuff, and if you're not overly concerned about getting a really amazing mix or anything. Direct recording solutions - DI boxes and VST amp sims, or line-level amp outs into IR cab sims or the like - are quite trendy right now, but I'm old school and a big proponent of micing amps. A SM57 or something similar (Audix i5, Sennheiser e609 or 906, etc) into an interface has a bit of a learning curve but once you get a feel for it is a pretty awesome way to track guitars, and is a skill set worth having.
