I mixed a single for Vanquisher

    What you think?
I'm pretty happy with it, but I had some trouble getting the bass right because he has this fretless 6-string bass which was tricky to seat right in the low end... I did my best at least

Story goes basically this band from south of Sweden recorded guitars + bass at some studio who didn't know anything and when they sent files to me for mixing I had to tell them "this needs to be re-recorded"... Microphone placements / amp settings changed during the song because of different sessions, clicky lack of crossfading between takes etc etc.
Not the bands fault, but unprofessional studio tech.

And guess what... If I remember right I told them to record DI track before they started, but they never plugged it in so they couldn't just reamp the tones and had to re-record everything this is why I never record without DI track!

So I invited them up to my place to redeem the guitars + bass.

The guitar amp was an Engl Savage if I remember right?
So we didn't use any Kempers or VSTs or so for this particular recording. Fun to do traditionally miced up amps sometimes too!

The snare and kick is 50 / 50 acoustic and sample, and toms are all acoustic if anybody wonders.

the left and right guitars sound out of sync a little.

    It's two different guitarists playing...
But I did drill them real hard to play as tight as possible.

However I asked for opinions on my mix rather than the bands performance

The timing thing sounds pretty uniformly out so you could potentially push the left track back a tiny bit to fix it.

Sounds great though, my only thing would be that the guitars sounds bit dry, personal preference though.
