That's a shitty spot to be in, because the answer is going to depend on if whoever answers it likes you enough to save you from the annoying pop up.

"Sir, our entire business operates on the honor system. Perhaps you could just pretend you bought a license for 6 and ignore the pop up when 7 comes out."

Like, you have to formally approach tech support and convince them it's not just about the fact that you really don't want to see the pop up when 7 comes out.

That being said, most companies automatically have a buffer zone so that people who are buying in the weeks before a release are buying the new thing.

If they don't hook you up, just pirate the damn thing.

I've been using REAPER for about 10 years and have yet to buy it. That pop-up window is just part of the experience for me.
    C'mon son.

I'm not really digging the redesign. A little too much needless snazz, and it's all too dark.

Fortunately you can just go back to the old skin.

I've used a theme called RADO 4VC for years now, its the best I've been able to find. Tried out the new version, checked the new default skin....its nice, but I agree its a little dark, the whole thing sort of washes together and is hard to look at for me. Could be partially because I have my toolbars and colors and stuff arranged to look good in the RADO theme, but still... I think I'll just stick with the theme I'm used to. Now just gotta decide if its worth upgrading because my license was for 4 & 5.

I bought my first Reaper license in 2008 or 2009. Recorded a ton of demos with it and later 2 albums. It's my favorite piece of software by far. When 5.0 came out, I think it was pretty cheap, like $60 to buy a license through 6.99, so I did it. Was shocked when I saw the new skin, but it was similar to one I used to use that I liked, and it's a little easier on the eyes since it's darker, so I'm happy.
