    Reaper 6

Released last night. GUI refresh including some cool FX bus stuff, evidently fairly significant behind the scenes performance enhancements, and the new skin at least looks pretty slick. I've barely scratched the surface, though.

Will have to check this out, I forget Reaper's policy, do you buy one license and it's good for life, or you have to buy a new one for every major revision? (4,5,6)

I use the new stuff they introduce most of the time. The subprojects feature, which was released with one of the iterations of 5, is fucking awesome, use it all the time now.

afaik, buying a license gets you through 2 major releases before you have to reup it.

This is correct. I bought my license during version 4 so now I'll have to renew it if I want to use version 6 without the minor nag screen. Or I can just not upgrade, but I use reaper almost daily so I think it makes sense to support these guys for their amazing work.

That does suck a little, but 5.0 came out in August 2015, which means chances are that v7.0 won't be released for several years.

The licenses are so reasonably priced that I don't mind paying the renewal cost. I'm far from a power user and will probably wait until I finish my EP.

Dammit. Might be worth emailing them and asking if they can bump you to one as if it was bought at 6.0.
