Patrick has been ok, I'd be alright with him staying up but he prob should go back to minors for more playing time. He'll be a solid player though. Lindblom and Leier have stood out in a good way, Laughton looks like he'll be a perennial AHL call up, Hagg has been mediocre, Morin likely to start as a Flyer, Sanheim is definitely better than Macdonald but I have a feeling he'll start the season in the AHL. Travis Konecny is playing at another level so far in preseason, but G and Jake have left a lot to be desired. Provorov is looking like he may have his breakout season. Goaltending has been meh and Neuvrith looks like he's already dealing with a mild injury.

You say this like it's unusual?

Hudon should have been there last year. I don't understand this team's love of "energy" types over guys who can score..

Yeah, I know. It's pretty much "business as usual".

But since they haven't win a preseason game so far this year (FWIW), it seems more obvious. You can blame Bergevin for the "energy guys", I guess.

The season Dallas was the top team in the West they didn't win a single preseason game, and last season Colorado was undefeated in preseason, but they were the worst team in modern NHL history... So meh. Preseason is fun and all but shouldn't put much stock in it.

Well, that's not happening this year.

It's more how they play than the scores that you put stock in.

How's everyone's feeling on all slashing/holding penalties being called, they're calling it with non contact beer league levels of tightness. Some of the calls have been downright comical. Last night a ranger hit another ranger with his stick so the flyers got a 2 minute high sticking penalty.

Long term I think it's good because it will open up the scoring *if* they stick to calling it. (We've been here before.)

Short term it's going to lead to some damn slow games.
