Someone is offering a 1973 K. Yairi acoustic (YW 600) in trade for my PRS CE. Anyone have any experience with them? Apparently they've been making Alvarez highest-end guitars since the 70's or something.
Checking on Reverb and Ebay people are asking about the same for those as for a PRS CE, but...
I've already got an LR Baggs DI for my acoustic stuff, but I was eying this unit for a while thinking of doing a full intensive rig for acoustic. So I've designated my LR Baggs for emergency backup (mostly for my singer at my country gig), and grabbed this:
It was either the Aura Spectrum or...
Does anybody have any experience with any models in particular and could throw in their :2c:? I love tuning my acoustic down, but the tension and string gauge aren't exactly optimal, and there's excessive fretboard clank and slap, as would be expected! So I'm thinking baritone is the way to go.
I'd forgotten about these:
Amazon.com: Ibanez AEL207E 7-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar Trans Black Sunburst: Musical Instruments
Anyone have one? For $499 and with Amazon's great return policy, it's pretty tempting.
I'm talking with a local luthier (David Ayers) about building a 7-string acoustic for me. Do any of you own an ERG acoustic (custom or otherwise)? If so, post some pics here and tell me a bit about your guitar. I haven't yet started to discuss specs/wood with the luthier yet, and I could use...
Hey there. Soon after "metal" baritone electrics became more prevalent (2004-2006ish), I wanted to get a baritone acoustic. Sparing a few companies that produced them for a couple grand (ACK!), there weren't many (any?) available. I bought a 7-string acoustic-electric, but it was alien to me...
They've been doing these for a while, but I hadn't ever actually seen one (or I dont recall). They've even got a used one available for like $1200 O.O
I got to play this one today for a good half an hour. Red Cedar Top, mahogany neck, back, and sides. I didn't try out the electric part of it, but just playing it was excellent. Great tone and feel. Definitely worth checking out if you want an acoustic on a budget that's made of real wood and...
I was looking at a friend's acoustic and the action at the 12th fret was like, I dunno, 6 or 7mm. But I didn't see a way to adjust it. No truss rod, no adjustable saddles.
I don't remember what kind of guitar it was.
I apologized if there's an extremely obvious answer, but seven strings, and acoustics are foreign to me so I know nothing of the companies that make them.
Who makes seven string acoustics, preferably in the $200-$400 range?
I searched the 'bay, Guitar Center, Google, etc, and nothing.
Has anyone heard the latest stuff? Ben Sharp is a fantastic musician IMO, I love this stuff :yesway:.
I'd like to write ambient music with this kind of feel (both the light and heavy).
Has anybody actually tried one of these? Thinking of picking one up so I don't have to take my aging and sentimental Ovation out anywhere. For under £400 with a Fishman and built-in tuner, and matching headstock, seems like a good deal. Looking at this finish too.
Because everyone likes all the little tidbits under your username when you post, right? :D

Right now they're set as ME (Main Electric) and MA (Main Acoustic) in the postbit. If someone has a cooler idea for short abbreviations that make sense, fire away.
The local Sam Ash in White Plains has a couple of Composite Acoustics guitars, including two or three acoustic instruments and one hollowbody electric. All composites (no wood involved) makes for some seriously lightweight and resonant guitars, although the Rainsong on the hook next to one of...
