I've bought 10- or 12-packs previously, but now I'm going with this instead! SUPER NICE and convinient! And I dont even change strings that often.
  2. Guitar: Instrument Discussion
I've just fired a set on one of my guitars. Admittedly i bought on Amazon and obviously wasnt paying attention as I thought I was buying the usual nickel ones. It says they are the brightest strings they do and I think I can hear that in them. Ive read that they will wear your frets away...

I break strings at the 4 week mark, every time. Been using DR DDT 12-60, and somebody just told me about these ones.. anybody try em? Going for the classic rock thing with this guitar.

They make my skinny ass Ibanez JX70 sound massive. They actually feel like electric strings. They also arent bronze so that is another plus. I have used elixirs on my acoustics because they almost made it sound bright and full. Not anymore im not.

Anyone else pick any of these up? I got a free set from the promotional giveaway they had a couple days ago and strung my Rhoads up with them today. To me they seem like the standard bright ass strings that D'Addario puts out, not that that's a bad thing though. Supposedly they're a higher...

http://daddario.com/pwProductDetail.Page?ActiveID=4115&productid=755&productname=Nylpro_Plus_Jazz_Pick_10_pk These look pretty interesting. The idea of two materials in a pick is a good idea and they have that super sweet green color.

Ok, it took me longer than I'd hoped to get a chance to do this, but this morning I sat down with a set of the D'Addario XL EXL110's and the pack of the new D'Addario XL Formula 3.0's that the rep who posts here sent me to check out. I've only logged a couple of hours of play time on these so...

Daddario sent me a beta sample of their new strings that are coming out. They feel really good under the fingers and sound really good!
  9. Guitar: Gear Discussion
Today I received a package from D'Addario, and realized that a while back, I had signed up for a beta test through a Musician's Friend survey. Apparently, D'Addario is testing a new string formula and I got to test them! Code named the XLFormula3, these will eventually be released as the...
  10. Guitar: Pickups Discussion
Over the course of a few weeks I acquired quite a bit of guitar electronics and pickups. The info and pics are below. I will be a busy man wiring all of this stuff into my guitars this weekend! DiMarzio Fast Track 2 pickup, DiMarzio Fast Track 1 pickup, DiMarzio Pro Track pickup, DiMarzio...

hi just gotten my 27" sherman 8s.. am now trying to tie down specific guage that would enable me to tune from low to high "G" have tried the 0.008 and it snaps at high G.. Perhaps am looking at tuning it slightly lower than G for my thinnest string.. then again using a regular 10-56 seven string...
  12. Guitar: Instrument Discussion
Looking for new strings to try out, I usually really like d'addario but I am curious about trying the exl140-8 set. I know the tensions seem way off but I'm curious. The other option is grab some La Bella crazy eights, I remember liking the tensions but not the extra price and tone of the...

Anyone try them? I know the mystique around balanced sets has been around for awhile, but this is the first time I recall seeing an actual "official" set from a manufacturer.
  14. Guitar: Gear Discussion
So recently(3 months ago?) I converted from Ernie Balls to D'addarios. They just sound better to me. But i'v noticed that in the 7 string sets, the low B string is lower tension than the other wound strings. And again, in the 6 string sets the low E is lower tension than the other wound...

Hardly news, I know, but aahhhhhhh sooo much better. Same gauges from newtone and daddario. In theory. 12 16 20p 32 44 56. Drop A#. Was on newtone thick cored. Got em custom made. I liked the thicker core keeping low end more stable and higher tension (in theory). I began to suspect that...

D'Addario Strings : Silk & Steel : EJ40 Silk & Steel Folk, 11-47 Anybody here tried these? I'm not really happy with the current sound and feel of my acoustic. These seem interesting. The guitar is a bit too bright, and also sucks for fingerstyle at the moment.

Dunno if anyone has seen these yet, or how long they've been out, but thought some people might find it useful. D'Addario 8-String Nickel Wound Electric Guitar Strings EXL140-8 10-74 from Strings Direct

DAddarioFretted Strings » Electric Strings » XL Nickel Round Wound » EXL111 Balanced Regular Light 10-46 Only one set for now but it is cool to see a manufacturer offer something like this.
  19. Guitar: Instrument Discussion
I've been doing some testing on a few strings and found that a D'Addario NW068 felt a lot lighter than a NW066. I checked the gauge with a pair of vernier callipers, no mistake, the strings were spot on 1.68mm and 1.73mm as they should be. Coiling the strings up and squeezing them the NW068 felt...
