  1. Guitar: Tech, Electronics and DIY
Ok, so I went over my RG3120TW last night, and fixed MOST of the issues without issue; the truss rod is close to where I want it, the tone pot was actually loose but is now fixed, and the trem arm holder is tightened down again. The two issues I want some input before I tackle, though: 1)...
  2. Guitar: Tech, Electronics and DIY
Hello all, thought I'd pick your collective brains of this one. One of the strap pins on my RG470 has drilled out and is now loose in it's hole and won't tighten. It's still attached to the guitar, but I don't trust it to hold the weight of the guitar without tearing out. I was thinking that...
  3. Guitar: Tech, Electronics and DIY
Hey everyone! So I was playing one of my guitars today and one of the studs for the trem suddenly lifted up. I took everything apart to see what happened and found this: Hopefully, it's clear from the image - there's a crack running out from the hole, that goes about halfway through the...

Yeah, got this tonight as it was at a good price. GK 700RBII and a Mesa Powerhouse 610 cab. Sounds killer and a nice bit more roundness to it than the 410. The GK head is kinda cool, although the basses I have don't seem to want to play nice with it. Even took a pic of the two rigs side by side...
  5. Guitar: Theory & Playing
Any one have any exercises, stretches to keep the fingers and wrists loose. My fingers and wrists feel so tight and fatigued when i play.
  6. Guitar: Theory & Playing
I've noticed that I very frequently tense up while I'm playing, mostly in my picking hand, forearm and shoulder. I do it with my left hand too, but not as bad and for some reason I seem to have an easier time correcting that if I concentrate, even while playing full speed. Can you guys...

A friend a mine brought this over. She wanted me to look at some problematic intonation screws. The problem was she needed a different allen wrench. Easy restring right? Nope. Reverse headstock :metal: So I'm getting ready to put the strings on and look what I found. Both trem...

I don't know if it's stress, or anxiety, or what, but I'm usually a fairly thick-set guy (read: fat). No but seriously, I've been fat a couple of times in my life, but from my mid-20's onwards I've just been a normal size, but with a fairly big frame. Then out of nowhere I've got kinda...

Hey chaps, just a quick question. I just bought a new 4 string and I love everything about it, it feels great, and it sounds like the devil, which in my case is a good thing. I'm about to use it to record an album, however there is one small problem. The screw that holds the bridge pick-up to...

I've got a set of Schaller Straplocks on my strat, but the bottom button keeps loosening itself. I'm looking for a solution other than matchsticks and woodglue, because I can't legally buy matches yet. I've tried longer screws, but that didn't work. Would dipping the screw in glue work?
  11. Guitar: Instrument Discussion
Turns out there was one consequence of my guitar abuse at the show last week. :D The bass side of my bridge pickup doesn't seem to want to seat down when I screw it in. It was knocked loose when the guitar fell, so I suspect that the screw kind of shredded the basswood on its way out and the...

Because that's what "After" sounds like with all that fucking jazz sax wankery getting in the way of everything else :noway: Kinda reminds me of a Simpsons episode, too...
  13. Guitar: Instrument Discussion
I just picked up an Ibanez RT650 that I discovered has some loose fret ends. On some, the fret is flatter than the fretboard radius, resulting in both fret ends being loose. When I use the superglue technique: Trade Secrets! Newsletter at Stewart-MacDonald on, say, the treble side, the bass...

The trem bar on my RG7620 swings around too freely, it wont stay in one place if i move it, it will just fall back down due to gravity. Is there any way I can make it so the trem bar can still be moved, but once I move it into a position it will stay there instead of falling back down?
