I know next to nothing about finishing guitars. Is this something I can use, and then seal it with something? I'm shooting for a uv reactive blue, because in my brain that'd be awesome. What would I seal it with? Any and all help is appreciated.
I was told in another thread to make a master post for my paint work, so here it goes :) Im gonna copy from a few of my other threads into a few posts, and then i'll just start updating here
I'm a custom painter full time now, after walking after from my digital arts career of 17 years. If it...
Well i spent the past few days putting together a music space in my paint studio. Since i moved in here with my gf, all my music gear as been in the living room, where there's always a bunch of people, so not really an ideal place for practicing/recording/writing. I had some space in my paint...
There was a bit of interest in some of my paint work from my guitar thread so i figured id put a fresh one here.
I'm a custom painter full time now, after walking after from my digital arts career of 17 years. If it sits still long enough i pretty much will paint it for ya. The pay is shit and...
Everything you need to know is right here in this video! The entire build story, the custom neck by Eric Bauer, and the secrets of what i believe Ibanez used on all those classic neon colors (like road flare red, Loch Ness green, shocking pink, etc), the whole nine yards. This guitar is a dream...
Pics first, explanation later:
This is Neil, my new 2000 model RG520QS!!! My first ever project using my new paint technique i'm calling "scrape painting"! I originally planned on swirling this guitar (as i am prone to doing), but followed a wild hair that took me somewhere completely...
I don't get the video at all, but I think he sounds great as always. How someone can play guitar that well and sing just as good at the same time is just plain unfair. He will always be one of my favourite players of all time. What I love about him is that he's so versatile. He loves releasing...
So, took my daughter to see a movie today, came out, and there's fucking Sprite (or similar) all over the side of my car. Took it immediately to get it washed, so it was only on it for say an hour or so.
Anything I need to do additional, besides a wash off?
I only ask, because I actually...
So I decided to sand my rg8 back and heel contours to stain them or do something (I actually kinda like the natural basswood) and there was cracks and dinks all over the contours, here's the most noticeable one:
I had to sand it right down to the wood through thick ass paint coats and lacquer...
How would I paint it. I wanna try and paint some of the green black but leave like a stripe of green on it and I wanna true the true bypass mod and change the light to a green led. Which should I do first and im not sure how to paint it without it looking ugly
I was on reddit and saw this paint. It goes from the solid color to clear with changes in heat! The videos show it being done with water to rapidly change it, but it'll react similarly by reacting to body heat.
It's pretty cheap so I'm going to give it a shot.
Heat Reactive Paint
I want to do this to my Barrington, and I just had a few questions to make sure I'm going in the right direction.
I have Gracey's paint colors picked out in my eBay watch list. Is there anywhere cheaper($28~/can), or a better paint(at that price point)?
I'm not sure if I'd want to clear coat...
Hey all here is a new real easy paint idea I had a few years back that I call "Viagles" yeah I know Steve is all about pyramids but "Viagles" just sounded better to me? Here are some pictures and a video hopefully.
Hope you like it, cheers for checking it out.
P.s I don't paint anything...
Boy have I been active today on the forum! I used the search box, typing anything I could on how to paint guitars, came up empty.
A few questions I have include whether to D.I.Y or professionally, costs involved, and difficulty of doing it myself.
I have an 04 Les Paul Studio (this...
