Brought the Recto home from practice last night to give it a little TLC. I discovered a common problem among rectifiers when I opened it last week to convert the effects loop to series. The screen grid resistors have roasted the PCB! I am pretty sure it was already like this from a previous...
As I mentioned a short while back, I had the opportunity to mess with a Mesa Lonestar 2x12 (the LSC) and loved the tone. So, in the back of my head, I'm kinda hunting one but funds being what they are, I'd probably end up trading for it. I know the amps I'm about to ask about are different...
Can be closed; Mark gone, AmpliFIRE soon to be gone, ROV staying
So, unfortunately I've got to part with my Boogie babies, due to unforeseen circumstances. I've got them on the 'Verb, but will part with them here for lower since we're MG bros, and you're saving me the Reverb fees. :D
Both are...
I guess calling it a rectoverb is redundant since the reverb is disconnected (easy enough to reconnect I'm sure, just not my area of savviness). I'm not going to make any claims that it's functioning, as I do not know for certain. It was disconnected when I got it.
It's got a few scuffs and...
So I jammed my rectoverb a couple times, and had lots of time to play with all the knobs. I've gotten used to EQing the amp with my ears and not my eyes, because mesa's EQ system is fucking strange as balls. I will add in here as an aside that i haven't used it and band volume with a boost yet...
I want to buy it so that when he comes up to my place, he'll have something to play. It'll save him from lugging his Roadster and cab around.
Am I not the best friend ever? Does Drew not suck for not accepting my offer of $500 and a 12 string?
Discuss!
Patience is a virtue, as they say. As some of you may know, I've been having a hell of a time getting my RoV to jive at band volumes. At first I thought the amp was a lemon. So I put it in the shop and it came back with a clean bill of health. Still, I was left unsatisfied. So the other day I...
So I'm talking to a guy on the Boogie Boards and he's got his DC-10 up for sale/trade. I offered my Rectoverb in a straight up trade and he's got a lot of interest. Nothing is set in stone as he's still debating it, as am I. Thus my question...
As much as everyone says mesa 50 watters are loud...
Ok, anyone who's been reading between the lines probably saw this coming.
This amp kicks ass - alledgedly some of the best cleans in the Rectifier series, great (and seriously unappreciated) lead sounds, and, well, it's a Recto, so you know it slays for rhythm. Two channels, two modes on...
I like the idea of the Mark series GEQ and was thinking about adding an EQ pedal or rackmount GEQ to get some more tonal shaping. The concern that comes to mind is the parallel fx loop on the RoV. I'm wondering that since the most you can dial in is 90% if that would present any phasing problems...
So last night me and my other guitar player were sitting down trying to dial in tones. For shits and giggles, I asked him to crank his 5150 to see just how loud it could go... Holy fuck, was it insane. My lil RoV simply couldn't hold a candle to it. Once I go past 12:30-1:00 on the Output I run...
So i was considering selling my rectoverb single and throwing a couple hundred on top and getting a dual rectifier, which brings me to the purpose of the thread.
What would be the benifits to trading "up" to the dual? (obviously the extra 50 watts)
What would the tone comparasion be?( would the...
So, the other day I finally had a chance to crank my Rectoverb. My old band has gotten back together for a reunion show (and more as a memorial for our drummer who pasted away 10 years ago) and rehearsals started last week. As a whole the practice went well and our 'hired' drummer did his...
So, I've been pretty happy thus far with my Rectoverb. It's much more versatile than my old F-30, yet I do kinda miss the smoothness of the F-30. So, that leads me to trying out some tubes in V1 to see if I can tame to Rectoverb. I'm thinking a lower gain tube, mainly because after 2:00 on the...
... for a Rectoverb combo. :dio: Here's the story:
About a week ago I put my Mesa on craigslist to see what type of response I'd get, and yesterday I got a trade offer for a RoV. I agreed to throw in some cash in the deal, but apparently the guy just had it retubed with Mesa tubes and had a new...
