I have a black Ibanez RG7421 (the older made in Japan one) with a red/black DiMarzio D-Sonic in the bridge position. Bought this guitar from James about 12 months ago for and have honestly only played it a few times and it hasn't left the house since I bought it.
It's a well loved guitar with a...
I have an old 2000 MiJ RG7421 that's been sitting around the house for a while now, I figured it's time I put a little effort into it and make it a real player. All the parts I ordered have finally arrived.

I love older mij ibbies. this one doesn't disappoint. Its absolutely beautiful and in great condition, especially for being 16 years old. I had a 2011 7421 once and the bridge sucked but this one feels as good as a hipshot. The neck is amazing. It also came loaded with a...
Brand New 6 string Tone Zone, and Ibanez 7 string Pickups (from 99' RG7421)
Up for sale is a 6 String Dimarzio Tone Zone (Non F-spaced) brand new in the box, never opened, as well as a set of Ibanez 7 string pickups I pulled from a 99' RG7421.
The Dimarzio I got it in a trade from a...
Hey everyone, I just made a trade to get my hands on a MIJ RG7421, one of the ones made with the 7621 necks. Traded on sevenstring.org and it went flawlessly. He packed it to survive a warzone.
It's in pretty amazing condition considering its a 15 year old guitar, only a few nicks in it. One of...
Haven't played this one in years, so it needs a new home.
Ibanez 7421 in cherry fudge (which is damned hard to get a good photo of).
Pickups are an Air Norton 7 in the neck and an Evo 7 in the bridge. Includes Ibanez hard case. In good player condition, no issues, just some of the normal RG...
I've currently got two axes, the Stef 7 (all maple version with a rosewood neck, EMG81-7's) and an RG7421 with an EMG707. Both are great sounding guitars in their own right, but the Stef's my main player and the RG just sounds too different. Or more precisely, it sounds like arse on the settings...
I lowballed a buy it now or best offer auction of one of these simple beauties last week, and got her today! It's my first seven string, AND RG. I didn't really have a honeymoon period, and I'll get to why last.
Play/feel: Like an Ibanez should! Not on par with my prestige, but I think they're...
Which would you personally go for?
My thoughts: either way, same woods, love both neck profiles, shit pickups, great looks. I'm just unsure about the sterling is all. What would make it worth $275~ more? And will a 25.5" hold up in GDGCFAD?
I hate doing this, but I don't personally know anyone who could advise me on such a life changing decision.
Put an RG7421 on layaway, so pickups are next.
This is my first seven so I'm pretty lost as for what sounds good.
For neck: liquidy and crisp(I'm thinking '59, Air Norton...

I got my Ibanez RG7421 today, I love the neck and it plays awesome. But, I have a few questions. The adjustment screws on the stock pickups, don't move the pickups up and down like they should. When I buy aftermarket pickups, will they come with their own adjustment system?
Also the stock...
I need some opinions on the Ibanez RG7421. Are they MIJ? Are the necks the thinnest of the wizard 7 necks?
I've been wanting to pick up some kind of nice Ibby 7 here lately, preferably with a fixed bridge. And, I spoted one of these pretty cheap.
I'm thinking about using refinishing the 7421 dark purple, throwing in green pups/knobs/switch tip and then using green pin stripe tape as "binding". Yes or no? Will it look tacky as fuck or is there hope?
