The majority of interest in a guitar that I have for sale has come from outside of the E.U., but due to the presence of a rosewood fingerboard it has become clear that it is going to be difficult to export.
Has anyone here in the UK had much experience\success when exporting guitars with...
So yeah, I wasn't thinking last night, put a bunch of guitars up, all with rosewood boards, and one sold pretty uickly (I think to a former member on here eelblack). ANd when i woke up this morning I remembered all the CITES stuff with regard to rosewood. Guitar in question is a 1991 540s7, so...
The new CITES regulations affect every guitar builder that uses rosewood for fingerboards and other parts, including Fender, Gibson, Martin, Taylor, and many more. It will likely take several months before the paperwork requirements are actually sorted out.

Who here has done it? How did you do it? Thinking of doing it on my Charvel. I love the look of beautifully cared for rosewood, but this one hasn't been hydrated in forever and was probably a lighter cut originally and I think it would look better a bit darker.
Well, "darkened", not "ebonized", but then I wasn't going for straight black, I just wanted to make the board a few shades darker (it turned out more than just a few shades but oh well, looks good!)
I love a good cut of rosewood, don't get me wrong, but when it's pale it looks really cheap...
Finally got a day where it wasn't raining, so I snapped some pics of this one:
Mahogany body (radius top carve)
Papua New Guinea
Rosewood neck (quarter sawn

Hey all - just found the thread thanks to Theo. I mentioned I'm in the Ormsby run with him and that I'd share some of my builds pics.
I went with:
Rosewood fretboard with abalone shark and dot inlays with alloy surrounds
Ivoroid binding everywhere
Well I broke one of my rules with this one: I got a white guitar  I normally dont like the color white on anything, but I had to make an exception for this one. I got this from my friend Jonathan, and it is only 3 months old. I was considering getting a PDN neptune blue JP6, but I...
I, on top of swirling this guitar, am wanting to try and make the fret board look darker.
My question is Would the Minwax Ebony Wood stain work for it?

This just got here today, pardon the indoor pics but the weather is crappy here today. I'll see if I can get some better pics in the next day or two if the sun comes out. This is literally fresh out of the box, I just took the fretboard covering off and snapped the pics. I want to let it...
My KxK Sii-7ex should be shipping soon, it's in the home stretch :woot:
(since I'm sure somebody will point it out the light spot on the neck is just a color shift in the ebony. Since I picked/bought the wood for this and it wasn't visible until the neck was carved I decided to just leave...
Double NGD: Jackson Custom Shop w/ brazilian rosewood top & ebony neck + Death Kelly
These are not mine actually, but a friend of mine's a die hard Jackson Custom Shop collector, and these were too good to not be posted.
Let's start with one of the most beautiful guitars I've ever seen...
So I've been trying to sell my DC-5 for a very long time (it sounds awesome but even with the attenuator it's a bit much for my living situation) and some guy on craigslist sent me a offer for one of these: S&P Showcase Series. While it looks like a nice guitar I would flip it as soon as I get...
This bass was completed in February of 2009 and I purchased it new from Guitar Center a few months later.
5 string, 34" scale, HH, 3 band EQ, 5 way selector switch, solid rosewood neck, gold hardware, in a Guitar Center exclusive (I believe) Pace Car Blue, with a blue/grey/gold swirled...
