Nice comparison of the Humbucker vs its Single coil sized "brothers". Also very interesting guitar system where we just detach and reattach the pickups as Modules :)
"You can use different sized or shaped frets for different parts of the neck."
Guitar Player, a "reputable publication", ran this article.

Terrible reckless advice? Life hack of the century? Strangely unsubstantiated...
I might get a SSS Strat like guitar soon (wife will be pissed as soon as she finds out) and even though I want to keep the Mid and Neck Singles for the "Strat Tones" but I really would like to try something else for more Punch on the Bridge side, lets call it the "80's Metal / VH Tone" on the...
Been wanting another Talman TM303, but this time with the idea of a strat with 3 P90s. Along the lines of this:
I haven't opened up my current Talmans as my replacement pickups have yet to arrive, though I'm also guessing that the routings would probably be exclusively for single coils. And...
Want one.
Need: Good cleans, good shreddiness, medium-high output. Clarity very important. Going in a guitar with a duncan distortion.
No brand bias or set in stone price requirements. Not going to use it that much, though, so cheaper is better.
Recommendations?
Weirdly enough, both guitars I have on hand for playing these days have Gibson sized frets (an actual Gibson and an 80s Rhoads), and I'm finding I like it better.
Anyone else in the same camp?
Got this: American Special Stratocaster.
Not digging the Texas Special in the bridge. Looking to drop in a single-coil sized Humbucker that won't cause me to have a an aneurysm trying to balance the volume with the Texas Specials in the middle and neck. Also, I'd love not to change any of the...
Looking to replace the bridge pickup on my Strat with a single cool sized bucker that has a PAF style tone, and matches well with the Cruisers in the neck and middle. I've got a Cruiser there now, and I'm just not digging the overly bright thin bite in the bridge.
Why not route? I could, and...
They're black. They fit 7's and 8's. They're plastic. £10 + P&P and they're yours. £15 to any of the MG crew if you wanna buy both. Pics are really need 'em.

Found the below.
To sum it up. Passive sized pickups will be the size of covered BKP's, and they're prototyping 81-8's and 85-7's, along with the 55/67 set in 7/8 string.
Sevenstring.org - View Single Post - EMG update: passive sized are coming, sort of
Trying an experiment here for the sake of being ridiculous. How exactly would I need to wire two single coil sized humbuckers to make it a quad pole humbucker? I'm combining a Duncan Hot Rail and a Dimarzio HS-2 so both are technically humbuckers. Both pickups are 4 conductor so I know there...
Brief & Accurate Description of gear/guitar:
Got a pair of 7 string sized emg housings that you can fit passives into. Accidentally ordered them instead of the 8string sized housings i was after. My epic fail is your gain.
Modifications (if any): Nothing
Accessories (hardshell case etc)...
Ok, so I'm having a guitar built for me in the new year. 27 frets, 6 string (obv), hipshot bridge, and 26" scale. The problem I'm having is that I'm not sure how much room I'll have for 2 humbuckers. I HATE (read: REALLY FUCKING HATE!) middle position pups, so having to play directly over a...
EMG Sized Blackout pair, Digitech Digidelay
Hey guys, i'm looking to sell my emg sized blackouts, the sound fucking great, but i just havnt had a passive pup in years, so i figure its time to try.
Looking to get 110 plus shipping. (these are 7 string)

Looks like my Duncan Customshop Screamin Demon 7 and 59-7 just shipped. I noticed MJ billed my card yesterday.
To recap, for those who are stuck with full sized EMG7 routes, it is now possible to have your favorite Duncan pickup created in a passive 7 string version WITHIN a Blackout Phase II...
