This is something that had crossed my mind many times. How many of these recorded Solos were really done in one go or even part of the same "flow" and idea? According to Dave some of these Solos that are on the Albuns are in reality pieces and bits of different solos that were cut, pasted and...

ENJOY!!! From my upcoming re-recordings of the first Blazon Stone album...

No matter what I do, or what effects I use, my solos always end up sounding really thin and anemic. For the rhythm guitar, I usually record 4 separate tracks, and pan two hard left and two hard right. But what about the solos? Thank you for the input!

KEMPER TIME!!!! Reampzone released an update to their Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier REV F pack today, so I immidiately made a quick demo for it. Including 3 short cool solos :flex:

I wanted to upload video/audio of the entire gig (even tho it was far from perfect) just for fun but the singer didn't want to... But for you personal enjoyment here's a couple of my solos you can "enjoy" until I take them down again :flex: I had a few issues: 2 weeks before gig I was diagnosed...

  8. Guitar: Theory & Playing
Here's my approach to writing guitars solos. Once I have the backing tracks finished I just improvise repeatedly until I find something that makes me go "ah!!! that was good", then I take that detail and build the rest of the solo around that. However, I didn't manage to pull off anything...

I am in the process of producing local band Madhouses debut album, and I am also in charge of solo recordings :flex: Anybody into early Icon, Dokken, WASP, Europe will dig this! Basically anybody into old school heavy metal bordering on hair/hardrock territory. Here's my first attempt, in my...

17/10/2016 - ok, this has grown into a bit of a monster! Added a lot more than I thought I would, and it's been viewed a fair amount, too, so, gonna tidy it up a bit and follow Drew's suggestion to add a list of contents. I'll update this list as I post new solos. Some of the videos are in this...

I've never been a lead player. I've been working really hard lately on the mechanics of my playing and I would like to try my hand at some challenging, but not too challenging solo's. Things that will help me expand my playing, but not something that will frustrate me to no end. Does anyone...

I'm soon about to start recording some solos for two upcoming RR albums (this one is from the more old school oriented heavy/speed album with new versions of old but previously unrecorded tracks) and it's just so much fun to play this one over and over :flex: And you just gotta love it when...

Scar Symmetry has been one of my favorite bands since their very first album and I bought most of their albums immediately after they were released, but after Christian left the band and they brought in two "sub-par vocalists" to fill in for Christian, my enthusiasm for them weakened quite a...

My #1, is probably Under a Glass Moon. It's got shred, funk, tasties, and did I mention shred? Close second is Innocence Faded. JP used to write phenomenally adventurous sounding stuff, I wish I was old enough to have grown up on that shit. 4:38 I know I'm JP Fanboying, but shit, old JP > *

Been meaning to start a thread on this for some time, and finally got off my arse to do it! This is a bit of a difficult topic to pin down, but hopefully we can all provide a bit of insight and some tips that will help us when it comes to writing solos that'll maybe help if you're a bit stuck...

Hey chums! Those hunks in Whitechapel are now streaming their new album Our Endless War online. This is probably their best album to date, and they asked me to contribute a bunch of guest solos this time around! Very proud to be a part of this record. I lay down some greasy licks on tracks 3, 8...

I've never in all the years I've played ever cared much for playing solos or felt the need to learn any. I just wanted to be like Hetfield. I'm getting to the point now that I want to start handling some lead work. I've missed out on some opportunities to play with other people because of my...
