I've always wanted to know the specifics of Doug's Guitar tone with what Gibson's years he uses (all a little different), he has wickedly good tone.
That Black Custom is probably my favorite and the Rosington has a ridiculous "Orange like" top I've always wanted on a LP.
So Doug was featured on Gibson's page (about time) and he's showing how to play some Dio, Whitesnake (even his riffs in WS, their glorious) and some Burning Rain riffs too.
Enjoy guys! Turns out we are all playing "Still of the Night" wrong still.
Wish Doug was still in WS, he resurrected that...
Vai's tone and playing on SOTT were the best he's ever sounded. Fantastic band lineup, great songwriting and absolutely monstrous tone that still sounds modern today. Not to take anything away from his playing on the DLR albums (which were fantastic) but Whitesnake-Vai really...
Whitesnake's "Slip of Tongue 30th Anniversary." Time to revisist "Judgement Day."
Because on this version Steve Vai ripped a few more clouds open then before...
He really went it on this version. :shred:
So the 30th Anniversary Edition has got some goodies and extended editions. Plus a...
I LOVE this record! I got it a day early before it released and listened to it on vinyl.
Thanks D.C. ;)
Anyway, so let me go off. This record really reminds me of "Slide It In" & "Slip of the Tongue."
There's a slight reminisce of 87' from time to time as well.
The highlights of this record...
This song is gloriously featuring Reb Beach & Joel Hoekstra's guitar work.
Very edgy and Joel is probably the first Whitesnake guitarist to throw in a Chromatic/Diminished Solo.
Here's what Joel had to say about this one on FB:
New WHITESNAKE song is cake, "Shut Up & Kiss Me!" Happy Valentine's Day! ;-)
I am diggin' the new Whitesnake track featuring Beach & Hoekstra!
Seems like they'll be a great combo together! Killer Beach solo!
The track really reminds me of the "Slip of the Tongue" era.
I love how they...
I love Doug Aldrich and all his Gold-Top Glory.
There's some sick moments in this vid that I think you guys would enjoy.
He opens with a sick rendition of Immigrant Song and then right into a Revolution Saints song.
44:25 he brings his bandmate St. Keith Johns to do a Burning Rain song which...
I really, really, really hope Joel gets the chance to leave his mark in Whitesnake as a guitar player for one more studio album. This is guy is too good not to get that chance. It is sickenning what this guy can do and how versatile of a player he is as well. Plus a super nice guy to boot.
Seriously, I don't know if you guys have listened to any of these albums.
But David & The Boys amp up some of these old Whitesnake songs, improvise intro and do some sick interludes between songs, etc.
They're just a great live band and truly take things up a notch for their fans live. Listen...
I started playing in a new arena rock cover band and this fucker came up on the set list. Some how I'd never learned this. Sure, I've learned the main riff and the Led Zep feeling riff but otherwise I had never really bit into it.
After tonight; it's a hard mother fucker. I've always thought...
Some of you may not know, Aldrich is out touring with Glenn Hughes and he is sounding quite fantastic!
A fan uploaded some quality videos, hope you guys enjoy!
Here's to hoping Hughes will start a new band with Aldrich. ;)
I figured some of you would appreciate this kind inspirational song quote I put up for our customers at Starbucks.
Now return to practicing that solo to play for your ladies tomorrow night. ;)
Happy Valentine's Day!
This is awesome! Joel is an incredible player and has some crazy chops (fusion, metal, rock)! When I saw The Trans-Siberian Orchestra live this past year, Joel would tap some of lead picked leads with all eight finger tapping, it was pretty nuts! He is incredibly nice too. I look forward to...
