As the title says, a deer ran out in front of me last friday on my way to work at 6am, somehow it managed to do enough damage to total my car. $6700 worth to be exact, which they said was 95% of the value of the vehicle. Sucks that my 7 year old, paid off vehicle that I payd $19,000 for new is worth basically $7,000. I took immaculate care of it, just put all new wheel bearings and brakes($500 in parts) all the way around over the summer, and literally changed the oil 3 miles before hitting a deer......
It is still driveable, although wrecked as fuck in the front. I plan on moving soon into a place with the lady friend, so I'm really not sure what I want to do, as this complicates thing financially.
Option #1 buy it back and get it 'rigged' for as cheap as possible, this would include a salvage yard hood, grill, and some back yard body work to get the core support pulled back out, a new A/C condenser and radiator, and fluids. My car has a two tone custom paint job, so this salvage yard hood is not going to match. Possible flat black my entire vehicle.
Option #2 find the cheapest POS that gets the most MPG that I can find, and get something else down the road.
Option #3 get a decent mpg car now and drive it until I can't stand it any more.
Option #4 get financed for what I really want, a used 04-04 Subaru WRX STi. Hard to find in the color I want, WRB(world rally blue for non subi snobs) with the sick gold wheels. These run give or take $15,000 with 100k miles on them.
Also, deer hunting, I'm starting.
