A question for a co-worker shopping for an affordable acoustic. he's got big fingers and he's concerned with fitting them in on the board when learning chords. Are there options out there in the acoustic world as far as board width, string spacing, etc? Is that what a smaller radius is for? He wants steel string - so wide-board classical is out of the picture.

He could always leave the octave strings off of a 12-string. They've got pretty wide necks, since they have to accommodate pairs.

It all depends on what he wants. Take him to a Guitar Center or something and have him play acoustics until he finds one he likes and then check the specs there or online.
