Adios Rebel XTi, you treated me well.

And hellooooooooo D90. :yesway:

Just pulled the trigger one one after eBaying my XTi and actually NOT taking a fuckin' bath on it. I got back almost entirely what I had into the camera, which is pretty much unheard of. Though to be fair, my camera is friggin' mint, as 90% of my DSLR shooting was with the XT I had before it, and I probably took maybe 1000 pics total with the XTi, and I take really good care of my toys.

Anyway.. Now for the waiting game until the new kit shows up. :(

The D90 looks like a great camera.

My friend has a Rebel XTi. Great camera. I have a Powershot S10 iS. Superzoom. But I think I'll be upgrading to the SX1 iS, which has full HD movie capability, and some other goodies.

Anyways, take some pics, show us what you got! You getting some lens or a nice flash with this, too?
I've been on the fence about getting a remote flash for ages, but I don't know how much I'd use it. The things I take pics of that would need a flash are usually just in my house, so if I really wanted to, I could probably just buy a $10 lamp instead.

I'm getting this lens:

Nikon AF-S DX VR 18-200mm Lens Zoom lens with vibration reduction for compatible Nikon digital SLRs at Crutchfield.com

Though I'm not going to pay Crutchfield's $800 for it, those jackals. I can grab that around $500-550 locally, and imo it's a perfect 99.9999% of the time focal length at 18-200. I figure if I find myself needing more zoom, I'll grab another Quantaray. I have a 70-300 QR right now (That's being sold with my XTi) that ran me $100 and is great for what I actually use it for. No IS, but anything I zoom that far with I just use a tripod anyway.
Cool shit.

Yeah, the Powershot has switchable IS, and a zoom that's equivalent to a 560mm lens. But typically, when I'm zooming liek that, I'm either a) very stable, or B) using my tripod, too.

Here's a shot I took the other day on the lake shore, using the full 560mm zoom, and my tripod. The lighthouse in the foreground is about 7 miles away, and the nuclear reactor coolling towers are closer to oh, 15, 20 miles.

That's a really cool pic boober. The old time lighthouse, the new fangled nuclear power plant and the lake and all the birds. Very cool.

Shanks, man.

Yeah, there's like 500 bazillion ducks on the lake right now. Mating season. The crazy shit is, you don't even really notice them, because they're a good 3 to 4 miles off shore. But when I zoom in on anything, holy fuck! Ducks galore!
D90 looks like an awesome camera, definitely on my wish list.
You're not helping my DSLR gas.

My dad has the D90, and it is pretty sweet. Don't know that I'd ever use the HD video feature, but that's just an added bonus.

The new Rebel Ti looks nice too. Lots of great cameras to be had these days.

Ew. Can you imagine the amount of duck spunk in that lake?

I thought at first, how cute! And then, when looking at the pictures, thought along the same lines. Nasty!
Gives a whole new meaning to "fuck a duck".
I'm probably getting a 450D soon, I think that's equivalent of a rebel xSi in the states? Not sure, it's my first SLR though.

You can go swimming there, just don't be surprised when you magically float on top of the water. And no, that ain't salt keeping you aloft.

And for Godssake, don't swallow the water either.
