Axe-Fx II Firmware Version 4.00 Up

Overhauled power amp modeling. Master Volume control is now usable over a larger range. Reduced harshness in many amp models. Most amps will sound more "open". Adjusting the MV in existing presets is recommended for optimum results.

Added "Grid Modeling" parameter to Amp block. Turning this to OFF bypasses the grid modeling in the power amp which can reduce subjectively undesirable distortion.

Added "FAS 6160" model. This model is based on the PVH 6160 model but more open and less fizzy than the original amp. Also, a virtual choke has replaced the resistor found on the original's power supply filter. This results in a bouncier feel.

Added Tape Echo algorithm to Delay and Multidelay blocks. This algorithm simulates a tape echo where modulation occurs due to tape speed variation. In the Delay block the algorithm is implemented as a two head monophonic tape "deck". The Time/Tempo parameters set the distance between the record and first playback head. The Ratio parameter sets the relative distance between the record and second playback head as a percentage of the first playback head. The Multidelay block is implemented as a monophonic deck with four independent heads. See the updated manual for full details.

Fixed TEMPO R parameter affecting left time in Dual Delay.

Added Dry Delay Shift for Thru-Zero mode of Flanger. This allows moving the thru-zero point from the center (default) to the edge or anywhere in between.

Exposed Advanced Whammy Start and Stop parameters to modifier control.

Increased output level for Octave Distortion model in Drive block.

Added support for all MIDI Voice Messages when MIDI Adapter Mode is on. This allows using the MIDI ports for keyboards and other devices other than foot controllers.

Fixed Recall Effect not working in certain instances.

There never was a 6160 from Peavey.

^my guess is that it's meant to modeled after a 5150. The one digit difference of 6 to 5 seems logical. Or were you being sarcastic. I can't tell it's the internet.

Of course not - The Peavey 5150 model on the Axe II is called PVH 6160, as an obvious reference. The new "FAS 6160" model is based on that cloned Axe model already, not on the original amp.

50% sarcastic. :D One thing's for sure; FAS moves a lot faster on improving things than L6 does. I wish they'd add more models to the POD HD series that are actually useful.
update all firmware new Edit and all 3 banks in under 10 minutes:yesway:

but I don't see a new FAS 6160 or the JVM models in here??

I must say, so far this thing has not been the awe inspiring fun that I was hoping it would be:noway:

Then I'll trade you my Ultra for it. It's fucking packed full of awe (seriously, there's no room for any more awe), and is more fun than a... really fun thing!
Ok so 4.01 is up

and now I can see the FAS 6160 and the JVM models.
(small steps)
Line 6 is so awesome.

Same here man, same here.
Yeah, the Axe-FX II is a heinous letdown in every department. I doubt anyone in their right mind would pay more than the price of a POD HD for it. I'm an awesome guy, though, so I'll buy one off of one of you for a grand. Because I care.
Sure, but local pick up only. :D

<Tom flies over to Austria>

Oh, hello Tom, come on in!
..

Thanks for the grand, yeah, the Axe FX II is right down there....yeah, the stairway down there...yeah, in the cellar...

"Yeah, it's down in the, uh... tone basement. Yeah. It's dark to cut down on electrical interference. For better tone. In the basement."
Ok so I got my response from Fractal Support yesterday and now I'm not so frustrated.
waiting for those monitors to get here.
Line 6 is so awesome.
How so? Because they might update their firmware once a year?

They get your driver situation squared away? (Can you hear the wet signal on the USB channel now?)

this thing works differently on a mac than on a windows machine.
To use the USB in I need to connect the outs to something (powered monitors) to hear what I'm doing. Apparently on a mac they have something called an aggregate device that lets you do this really cleanly.
(+1 for the Mac -1 for Windows 7)
So for now I have the outs going to my M-Audio interface and I can hear everything now (and record), the new FAS 6160 model kicks some serious ass:leon:
so in the mean time I guess I will really start learning how to tweak and create my own patches etc.
4.01 added more options and tapered the Master volume control so it's more responsive or something , you can trun grid modeling on/off whatever the hell that means
When I get my monitors I can do away with the M-audio interface and steamline this down a bit. Got a new desk too, so I've got a lot of stuff to do:agreed:

also is anyone that's using this thing out to a power amp/cab leaving the power amp sim on and the cab sims on?
On a couple of the presets they actually sound better thru my 50/50 leaving them on:agreed:

Might is pushing it.

Right up until it fails on you at a gig...again. That is something I have to hand to Fractal: I've never heard of touring musicians bitching about reliability. That is something I hear about Line6 (and have personal experienced) all the time.
