Im looking for a backup head to keep at practice so when my friends come in from out of town they can jam with us. But its gotta be something thats not a copmplete piece of crap. on ebay im looking at a Peavey jsx head, Marshall AVT150h, Marshall DSL100, TSL100, and JVM and the regular 6505/5150 stuff. Im wanting to get a good amp head for as little money lol. What do you guys think?

In the past I kept a girl around for back up head, even though she wasn't that attractive. But then my main girl and I got serious, and I had to stop all that.

I can't wait for the JCA22H to hit shelves.

JCA100 is pretty badass. A little more classic sounding but sits in a mix great.

Do a Youtube search for FastRedPonyCar. He's a bit of a JC fanboy, and better still, he does great demos of the 100 and the Pico (he might have a 20 too). Good player too.

Josh, I'm waiting for the 22 as well. I sure hope it's not 16ohm only though, like the 20 is/was. That's really irritating.

Jet City = cheap Soldano. XXX is basically a copy of the Mesa Rectifier.
XXX is a 3 channel Peavey Ultra+, was originally going to be a Lynch sig amp before he backed out, they sound nothing like a Recto, IMO. Lots of guys make them look like rectos to get rid of the trucker girl faceplate, though.

If all you want is metal, a 5150II/6505+ or a XXX would be good.

If you want more of a hardrock tone with versatility, and metal with a TS9 boost, the Jetcity JCA50/100/HDM will work awesome.

Carvin V3.

Put some 6L6's in it and bring the bias up to around 150-175 and you'll have a
great back up head.
Very versital.
3 channels. (with 3 voicings in each.)
Midi.
Assignable effects loop.
Boost and scoop features.
50w to 100w.
You should be able to find one used in your price range.

The new V3m micro head is a thought as well.
Goes from 7w to 50w.
So, good to go from the bedroom to the stage.
Those are $599 new.
Not midi like it big brother.
But, you could always get a voodoo lab control switcher
if need be.
