Bathurst 1000. The race that kills cars.

The driver walked away from this.
Blowing out a back wheel at the end of conrod straight on lap 1 is THE WORST possible place to have that happen.
Nearly 300kmph into a sand trap. :ugh:

It's blocked.

 YouTube to the rescue.

That right there is an argument for pavement run-off areas instead of gravel/sand traps.

That is a testament to modern engineering.
Amazing he walked away from that. :yesway:
And if that was paved, he may have come to a stop in Japan. :D
Holy fuck. I love the nonchalant look on his face like, "Uh, hey guys, yeah I'm ok," after his car got obliterated

Actually quite the opposite. If you remember Skaife's off at Shanghai a few years back, big run off is what stops the cars. Those tires are designed to grip on tarmac. Graven and grass a)cools the tires down, so they are less sticky b)coats them with grass or gravel to saturation, so they just skate over it with no resistance.

I'm all for tarmac run off in principle, but in reality it ruins the racing. Very good reason Monaco is a scarier circuit than Valencia.

Can't get V8 supercars over here, so I'll be downloading it after the weekend. Can't wait.
Can I just take this moment to say Australia has one of the best touring car championships in the world. I love BTCC and DTM, but the V8's are far and away my favourite. You guys have some of my favourite circuits too; Hidden Valley, Pukekohe, Symmons Plains, Mount Panorama, Adelaide Street Circuit...

Had to get rid of Oran Park though, didn't you. Bastards. :(

Finally, this is fucking MILES better than Nascar. Just had to throw that out there. :D
