Wouldn't mind having a play on one of these...

The extra volume knob would drive me nuts, since it is now in the way of master volume roll-offs.

Replace the middle pickup volume knob with an on/off mini-toggle would be my preference, but it definitely sounds nice. His explanation was a little all over the place, though, as I knew what everything did about 1 minute into the video

Cool tele. But from the ones I tried out, they're not built all that well and weigh a ton. But considering they're a Gibson company. It kind of falls in line with everything else they make.

The extra volume knob would drive me nuts, since it is now in the way of master volume roll-offs.
It's very similar to the way a 3 pickup Les Paul is set up. Middle pickup has it's own volume and basically acts as a "fader" to mix in with the other 2 pickups. Personally I like G&L's setup of this on their ASAT "Classic S", where it's a 5 way switch and a push-pull pot instead.

Versatile, but an incredible visual mismatch. Not my thing visually.

The only "Tele" i'd consider with 3 knobs would be this:

And even that would probably get a new control plate with correct controls.
So no tone knob? That second volume is for the piezo, IIRC.
