I doubt that video will be up for long.

It's a miracle that no one was killed. Some reports said there were bits of V8 flying through the crowd, too.

Daytona has a pretty crap safety record and they need to invest in better catch fencing, especially since the Car of Tomorrow is designed to fall apart like that to increase driver safety.

Very glad no one was seriously injured though. Could have been a thousand times worse.

Yup. IIRC these are the new Gen 6 cars as well.

Jesus. And that guy in the grey shirt is standing facing one way franticly filming the action on his phone, while ten feet to his left is a tire.
That's some crazy shit right there. Wowza
This is an example of mother nature weeding out the weak one ******* at a time.

:flex:

Seriously though. Wow. It could have so much worse.

Kinda reminded me of When Petty got into the fence in 88 - tho this was a lot worse

They only care about their own incomes around here, don't expect any upgrades to the track that aren't more seating.

I don't know man, as much as NASCAR cares about its fans and the general attitude toward safety in the sport I wouldn't be surprised if there was a new fence installed by the time they race there again in July.

agreed.

I watched it live. I knew it was pretty bad when they wouldn't show any replays. Its amazing no one was killed.

There are a lot of unresolved issues with the track here. I personally don't care about NASCAR, but I'll end up hearing about it because 99% of the population here does.
