I agree, but it'll be nice to hear a metal album with somewhat more natural sounding drums on it, especially since it'll have minimal editing too. I'm sick of metal albums sounding like they have a drum machine on it. Hell, I though my old band's tracks sounded way better before quantization/triggering than they do in the final mix.

^This. Especially now I can spot things like the DFH snare, it just gets annoying when you know youre not hearing an actual musician. One of my favourite drummers at the moment is Jay from Tesseract, partly due to his resolute avoidance of triggers. I understand that there's a time and place for them, but in general I prefer the sound of a natural kick drum, triggers make things too unrealistically consistent. Human drumming please :yesway:

^Exactly, natural drums allow you to use subtlety where its needed. If youre playing flat-out grindcore and you really want every kick drum/snare hit to sound the same, then happy triggering. But with the sort of music I listen to I prefer to hear a full dynamic range, which generally means a properly mic'd kit and a drummer who knows whats up. Same goes for autotune, there's a time and a place for it if thats the sound you want, but Id rather hear a singer who has the technique to control his/her pitch to the degree that they can wander outside of the 'right' notes where appropriate, i.e. Ian from Karnivool.
