Dissection appreciation

No funny title; I just felt like sharing some tracks from my favourite record. I never, ever, ever get tired of listening to this album. Many have followed in Dissection's footsteps and carried on their sound, but nothing beats the original.

And, on the off chance that you haven't heard the whole album...

Dissection is one of my favourite bands of all time definitely

I was a huge fan of Reinkaos
I was pretty surprised by the change in sound, but it's still a damn fine record. Still, Storm of the Light's Bane will always be "the one" for me.

Dissection kill.

Also, these guys are fucking awesome musicians.
I'm a huge Dissection fan. I also credit the guy for pointing me towards some of the interests and pursuits I have today (though quite different from what Jon practiced.)
When storm of the lights bane came out, Jon was light years beyond anyone in metal at writing music. I also liked reinkaos, but it was very controlled.

Yeah, Storm of the Light's Bane was really in a class of its own. You can hear the Bathory all over it, as well as Maiden, early Metallica, and a bunch of other influences, but it really pulled the whole package together in a unique way.

I was completely blown away when I first heard it, and that feeling hasn't really changed. To me, it never feels dated or long in the tooth.

The Somberlain is really fucking good, but Storm is... hhhhnngggg..

I am so unrepentantly fanboy about that album. Zero fucks given.
This shit right here. "March 22, 1996, on the World Tour of the Light's Bane with At The Gates and Morbid Angel." Too bad I was 8 years old.

Reinkaos gets a lot of hate, but I thought it was a pretty catchy album with some tasty guitar work and vocals. Completely unrelated to old Dissection, though.
Even though it's not like their other stuff, Reinkaos is one badass album. :yesway:

Reinkaos was a great record, and this is my favourite track off that record.

It's different, but still very good.

It's sad that Dissection can't make music anymore, and the closest thing I see as a replacement in terms of style is Watain.
I never got into Reinkaos to be honest. When I saw them live, they played only 2 songs from it (Maha Kali and Black Dragon iirc - the only 2 songs I liked from that record)

"Storm..." will be one of my favourite records forever. And I am blasting "Where Dead Angels Lie" right now, because there is a black metal snowstorm going on outside.
