You know, at first I thought that something like this would be a waste of time and money, but then I googled it, and it seems like it would be an awesome project if I had the time and money. For shit's sake, here's the link I found. Honestly, it's a super basic site, but that's a nifty idea! I'm gonna look further into this for sure.
If you have any old speakers lying around from a hifi or something, you can use those as primitive speakers. The diaphragms are very large compared to normal microphones, so they are only really good at picking up low frequencies, but this makes them great for capturing the low end of a kick drum.
perhaps it would be better to start off modding mics to get the hang of it. i have an at415 laying around that i can't find a good use for. lets keep this thread going.
I found link with a ton of microphone schematics. Could be a bit crazy, but I think that if you get the right materials, you could totally replicate one of these mics for a lesser cost than buying the actual mic.
I've always wanted to build a stealth/wearable binaural mic (basically sits inside your ears, using your head as the dummy head) for portable recording. I've heard some amazing stuff done with homebrew stuff there.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
