So I finally thought I should put together my other 7 strings that I took apart for my pickup shootout, and upon putting the Distortion 7 into my 1527, I realized it was bottomed out and still making contact with the strings. I suppose I could try to modify the tabs for the pickup, but is has anybody had this issue with Duncans and Ibanez? I would really like to avoid routing the pickup well deeper.
I had this problem with an EMG 81TWX in an AT, not even with the legs, the actual magnet part of the pickup was twice as deep as a Duncan Custom.
Are you sure it is the legs, and not the adjustable poles that extend all the way through the back of the pickup? I've had to drill holes in the base of the pickup route for Duncan poles before.
I've heard of many people dremeling the screws before :agreed:
