Help me decide what to save for, PLEASE!?

I'm going round and round in fucking loops.

I want to run a stereo set up, but I simply can't decide what amp to get.

I already have a SLO Clone which I love dearly but I want to compliment it with something a little different.

Ideally looking at 2 channel amps, that I can run a simple one button latching switch to hopefully control both amps, or will go down RJM, Voodoo Lab route if I have to.

50w ish

Dual Rec type cleans

I want utter filth on a gain channel but looking for a bit more of a "Brit" voicing.

Plus I'm in the UK so prices are a bit different to what most of you guys will see.

I keep looking at Cornford, Victory, Mesa, Diezel, H&K, Engl, Stoneham, Peavy, Fender etc. ... and nothing seems to tick every box for me.

Anyways, any ideas, help, guidance or mocking is always welcome.

Cheers.

Dual rec running EL34's then?
It would have to be an old one with two channels, hard to find plus too loud. I'd never really push the valves with two amps running.

I could go down RJM route etc...but I'd rather avoid that.

Thanks for the help though mate.

If 100W is too loud, 50W will also be too loud ;)
Yeah there's not much difference, but I just want to tame as much as I can.

a band I was in a few years back, the other guitarist was spanking a tiny terror all out and it certainly had no trouble keeping up.

Maybe a Dual Rec is the way to go but I just want a simple switching system. One button for both amps, and the old ones are hard to get over here. I wouldn't want to set my heart on one then not be able to find one.

They do come up, so you will be able to find one. Just need connections and a daily search.

Did you want to use both channels of the new amp? Shouldnt be too hard to get switching set up. If you want to tame it, you've got to buy an attenuator.
Yeah, I basically want to be able to switch both amps clean and then one footswitch to dirt on both.

Even two buttons on one small footswitch would be cool.

I feel like that's been done before so even if its not a product, someone can build it for you.
They show up every now and then but anywhere from £600 - £1200 used.

Have you tried one? I can't get to one where I am. :-(

You reckon it would be easy enough done? Also, could I use a normal latching switch on a dual rec to flip between just channel 1 and 3?

Yes i believe you can as I was going to get a custom cable for my roadster when i had it. I've tried a two ch triple and it was pretty fun. If you like the way rectos sound, then you should be good.
Cool, the dual I had before I just used the Bigfoot. Want to avoid that this time though.

Cheers Budda....

Budda....hhmmm, never thought about Budda amps yet..... ha ha, ARGH!!!

Budda SD45 would fit the bill.
I would mock, but I'm starting to run a similar rig! I just got a Radial Twin City in that'll allow me to nicely run my Mesa Stiletto Deuce SII together with my Mesa DC-10.

The Stiletto gives me the crunchy mids and highs. The DC-10 gives me smooth mids and glorious lows.
Nice one cheers guys.

There seems to be a marginal sale on Budda amps over here at the moment, never really see or hear anyone play them.
I love mine. They're definitely a sort of fat, vintagey high-gain Marshall thing on the drive channel, and go from bold cleans to AC/DC crunch on the rhythm channel. The Series II amps with the mid shift can get some great heavier tones too. Very loud for their power ratings.

The SD45 is the most aggressive of the bunch, running two KT66s. The 18 and 30 are sweeter and chimier in the midrange, and the 80 is deeper and a little more even, plus has enormous headroom.

This is a pretty good indicator of how the EL84-equipped Buddas sound:

I actually checked that clip out today since I haven't found many good clips and all I can say is fuck that is perfect. Also being meaning to ask you Josh but have you tried a Friedman Naked? I ask because they share a pre-amp similar to the Budda Superdrives.

Two Budda SD18's in stereo with a Nova System - YouTube
That sounds glorious. :yesway:
Have you considered a Rectoverb or Solo 50 head, could always run EL34s, KT77 etc
