Also, FWIW I get about ~27MPG highway out of my 3-series, which is AWD. You'll have a hard time finding something decent that gets in the 30s without being FWD or some flavor of hybrid.

Yeah but aren't you driving the 6-cyl? The new four cyl turbo will get close to 40 on the highway.

My mom grabbed a new Forester and loves it. 30+ mpg on the highway.

What about the Mazda CX-5? We had the CX-7 and loved that car.
