Things are moving nicely on the swap. Need to find an oil pan from an older 530I, need an oil pickup fabricated, need a set of headers, and a 3" exhaust fabricated... its a long term project though, and I think budget constraints will show soon, because I need to replace the entire suspension, fabricate a 6 point cage, and replace every rubber part I possibly can...

^ Jesus, that's insane. I thought the W12 GTI was crazy.
The motor? :steve2:
The motor is in excellent shape, I've already disassembled it, and will be using it in a later build a few years down the road, turbo 2.8l will be the end product.
Well, the 01 BMW is fully paid off now, so I own a fucked up piece of shit outright  I've been working on removing the wiring harness today... I worked for half the afternoon and came in completely drenched in sweat, it's like I'd jumped in a pool with my clothes on. I also found out the 86 BMW has a limited slip rear diff, but it's only a 2.93:1 ratio, so I'll be able to swap the gearing and save some money. Instead of costing me 300-400, it'll cost me 50 bucks to get the gearing I want, probably 3.73:1... I'm also still on the hunt for an oil pan for my motor swap...
Er, congrats, I guess

That's awesome news on the LSD :yesway:

I know it's UK based, but have you taken a look at E30 Zone? It's a pretty major E30 forum with a huge stack of tech info, plus I'm sure they'd love to hear about your project.
The 01 is now gone :( It really pisses me off to no end that BMW designed the rear subframe mounts so poorly, and basically forced me to have to get rid of one of my favorite cars ever. Words can't even fully describe how pissed I've been about this...
If you lived up here, I'd let you take the 2010 sitting in my driveway right now (service loaner) out for a couple of hours to beat the bag out of it.

You absolutely got the shaft, dude. If I were you, I'd never buy another BMW ever again. :noway:

Absolutely not, at least, not something newer than 1992  I doubt I'll have another BMW after I finish building this 86, I'll likely go back to RX7's and put myself back through rotary hell
There is only one good BMW, the M1, which was never sold in the US anyway.

I bet they make a video game with it for the Atari.

Sorry to say, you're 100% wrong.

One of the best street legal racing cars ever made, bar none. Setting the bar in hp/liter performance before there even was a bar. I was so close to buying an E30 M3 when I picked up my 330... I should have, but 12k seemed so steep back then, if only I knew how much a clean low miles E30 M3 is worth now, I'd have jumped on it. They aren't depreciating anymore.

That's the thing about cars like that, they dive to a point, sit stable for a few years and then start rising. 3 door RS Cosworths were 2-a-penny around the £3000 mark a couple of years back, try finding one for under £7000 now.

If you like the E30 M3, how about the ultra rare E30 320is? It's a special made for the Italian market as for some reason they decided to make it cripplingly expensive to have a car with an engine bigger than 2.0l. What did BMW do? Take a late model 325i Sport (with M-Tech 2 kit & leather), pull the M20 and replace it with a 2.0l version of the M3's S14 motor, pumping out circa 190bhp. Halfway house between a 325i and an M3, plus most people haven't a clue it exists.
Completely randomly decided to search for M50 on CraigsList, and found the oil pan I need for my swap, for 150-200 less than it normally costs! Will be grabbing it tomorrow.

My Pathfinder also decided it no longer liked the transmissions it had in it. It's stuck in Drive, and the lever is working fine, so it's just borked. Tried running some Seafoam transmission flush through it, but no such luck. I'm going to be doing a 5 speed swap on it, probably sometime next month. I hate Auto's anyways!
Just picked up the oil pan, it's in great shape, was a great deal!
Congrats on the oilpan, sucking balls on the shagged auto box.
Real men drive real transmissions.

Stitch! I feel like its been forever since I've questioned your sexuality. Where the fuck have you been??!
Engine is at the mechanic having the custom oil pickup tube made. Not sure when I'll get it back, will be calling him this afternoon.
