Ibanez Ambiance Acoustics?

Has anybody actually tried one of these? Thinking of picking one up so I don't have to take my aging and sentimental Ovation out anywhere. For under £400 with a Fishman and built-in tuner, and matching headstock, seems like a good deal. Looking at this finish too.

looks like a nice axe, I'm picky about how thick the body is personally, I prefer thinline acoustics
Ibanez acoustics are pretty, but I was never fond of their sound. I don't know how expensive Martins are on that side of the pond, but here a low end one isn't terribly much more and sounds millions better. :2c:

My first thought, too. An entry-level Martin or Taylor, or even a Seagull, will sound quite a bit better for the price.
They look really nice, and also look great on paper, but they don't have that fatty boom-batty sound. I played a couple Ibanez acoustics back to back with some low end Taylors and Martins not too long ago, and the Ibby's didn't come close.

I completely agree with this statement.

I just don't get along with Ibanez acoustics... They sound too bright too my ears. You said you have an Ovation, so maybe that'll be up your alley, though.

The Martin 000X1 or the Taylor 110e (or ce, if you're a fan of the cutaway) may be something you'd be happier with in the long run, though I believe they're a little bit more squiggly L things. A quick online price check put them just below 500, though I'm not really familiar with the music stores on that side of the pond.
Martin DX1AE? I really liked that one. You could always try for a used Takamine EF340SCGN, but I'm not sure about their availability in Europe.

I have the exact opposite problem with them. They always seem to sound like a Dean. IE, dead, flat and shitty.

If you're looking for a cheap acoustic, go with Alvarez. If you're looking for something more expensive, get a lower- end Taylor.
Wirelessly posted :)sponge:: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8H7 Safari/6533.18.5)

Alvarez are sweet, but I'm a huge whore for Seagull. Just love their guitars. Get yourself some fine Canadian wood in your hands :yesway:

Ken's right. In the $400-500 range, Alvarez is king. There are usually a handful of duds and a handful of "wtf, why is this so cheap?" sounding models at every music store I go to, so play them before you buy one.

My buddy Josh had an absolute gem of an Alvarez and I think he paid $500 for it. Sounded every bit as good as my Martin.
here's what I do, follow me step by step...

step 1. go to local music shop

step 2. play every acoustic thats in your budget

step 3. buy the one that you like the best

step 4. ???

step 5. PROFIT!
Also check out Blueridge. I have a BR-40 that I picked up from Rudy's Music in Times Square for $370. I played almost everything in the shop, including some EXTREMELY expensive Taylors, Martins, and Gibsons (this is Rudy's we're talking about after all, it's hard to walk out of there for under a grand), and while it didn't smoke them all, it held its own against guitars twice to ten times the price.
