I have heard some great tones from amplitube, bias-amps so I went out and bought an ipad for this purpose, along with an interface. So im looking for suggestion on a speaker I can add to the setup. Would you go with studio monitors or like an alto speaker? Also what is the best amp software to purchase bias-amp or amplitube, which route would you take?
Yea man I'm totally diggin it. there are just so many possibilities. Jammin with headphones just doesnt cut it though. The interface I have for my ipad has rca out' so I'm trying to decide what to get in the way of speakers. i was either thinking some decent studio monitors or like a pa speaker. Just wasnt sure if the monitofrs would cut it ya know? so what would you get?
Everyone I know that uses their iphone as a portable amp, or as a way to record ideas loves them, I even think they are great and I hate iphones, my only problem with them is the proprietary connection on the bottom of the iphone that is used for everything from syncing to charing, and in this case hooking up your guitar, it can be quite finiky, and is prone to breaking if placed under stress, I've seen a few break, or become 'touchy' that they needed to be held in position with tape. Bu they are replacable and quite cheap.
It's the one thing I wish both Android and Microsoft phones did that Apple do.
Actually some newer Samsungs are now able to do this - I think the S5 and S6 will work - but the only software as far as i know thats out there is amplitube :yesway:
I've never used the Samsung version so it could be shite - but its a start.
and James, speaking of Bias, i can run my AMT pedal into bias, turn off the preamp and tone stack, and just use power/cab/mic sims.
Never owned anything Apple and would prefer to use an Android device... but Android seems to get no interest in developing for Music software
Whats the most basic (read cheap) iPad one can use with Bias? Its only to just plug the guitar and have 30m-1h fun and not much else, maybe see a movie or read a Comic Book... but I dont need ultra features rich iPad.

You can try Auria as well, it's a much better multi-track recorder than the 8-track that comes with JamUp. You can use AudioBus to route Bias or JamUp into Auria to record.
And I assume we can just login to the Cloud and download them, or is it a pay per Amp thing? I know there's Ola and Keith presets but Im talking about the Customers made ones.
Bias has a few amp packs, but has a good assortment of built in amps. JamUp has a bunch for in-app purchases, which is kind of annoying, but JamUp is still solid, just buy what you want.
