I guess it's just not my thing, it feels like teenage angst or Hot Topic music
Do you like Carcass or At The Gates? This is a continuation of the groundwork they set in the 90s.

BTW - isn't teenage angst how your parents described Sweet and Mott the Hoople?

I fucking love the first 4 albums. I really feel the Johan albums are underrated as hell.
I bought the wages double disc, having no idea they had a male vocalist before. I should revisit it, actually.

Wages-Doomsday was decent, stopped paying attention after that.

This was the single they release with the first female singer. I love this album, even if that makes me a poser! After this album they got more and more watered down...
:agreed:

During the brief period of time when I found death vocals to be listenable, this album was a highlight for me. The previous albums were probably better musically, but Johan Liiva was an atrociously bad vocalist.

Angela Gossow's vocals went downhill pretty quickly after Wages of Sin, though. I saw them in concert during the tour for the album after this, and it was obvious that she was using some kind of distortion on her voice--it became apparent on the albums, too.

The songs I've heard from AE with Alyssa doing the vocals aren't bad, just not very memorable.

It's sad to see Loomis spending the bulk of his time in a band where he has no creative input, but everyone has to make a living. And now that Warrel's no longer with us, I'm not sure what else Loomis could do that would be a money earner.

I wonder if his split with Schecter was a mutual thing. He doesn't have the high profile that he had a decade ago, and perhaps Schecter is going for a different market now. I've noticed that many of their newer models are less metal-oriented.

It was mutual. Schecter wasn't happy about it, though. They wanted him to stay, but Loomis wanted more freedom to use his personal guitars. Apparently the Jackson was a guitar he's been owning, and he has some custom guitars from some semi-unknown company in the works.

Maybe now that he is in Arch Enemy he finally has the money to go buy and use whatever the fuck he wants, instead of being dependent of "free guitars" :D

Yeah, I saw them on the Wages tour at a tiny venue and they were on fire, saw them six months later at a larger venue and everything was suddenly very slick and polished. Talking to a friend who toured with them extensively and basically she blew her vocals with bad technique and they had to start working to click so pre-records could be faded in if she was having a bad night.

Agreed that their material has been on the wane for a long long time. Also, the next time you listen to Alyssa, listen out for the little screech that she does with her voice before the first word of every line, it's like the vocal equivalent of the scratch on an EMG 81. Now try to unhear it.

Surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet but a substantial dropoff in Arch Enemy correlated with Chris Amott's reduced role and then full departure.

I used to love arch enemy, their music doesnt do it for me anymore. I do have hopes though that Loomis can make the music inreresting again. Only thing is they need to stop this crappy singers and just find a badass singer in general to really push the band past its limits.

You all realzie that hes had these Jacksons since the early 90s when Nevermore was still Sanctuary right? .....LOL I love all you guys thinking hes jumping ship from Schecter just cause hes playing some old ass Jacksons hes had for 30 years live ....LOL

Nah he legit did leave Schecter. All the rumors started because he was removed from their artist page, his sig models were discontinued, and retailers claimed they weren't getting anymore shipments of the JL models.

Also there's a Schecter endorser that also said Jeff left Schecter.

Well considering I talked to Jeff on the 11th of January about his swap to the Helix, and I asked him about Schecter and he said things were in development .... Wonder if he meant as in a move then.... Hmmmmm Ill have to ask.

Oh you......

Edit: BTW this is much better:lol:

My 6th/7th grade band played a lot of Mott The Hoople (badly) :) Basically Mott and BTO songs. All the Young Dudes was really a Bowie song, they had lots better than that.

The thing is, she's a badass singer. Just not a badass growler.
