This was in the latest issue of Sound on Sound. Not sure how much you can read without a subscription. It's a pretty short article though. Not gonna screenshot or quote the whole thing, since you should probably subscribe to the mag if you don't already, but this is an absolutely killer tip. Basically it's a way of hearing what something like an EQ is actually removing in isolation. The bits that are different between the input and the output signal solo'd. Pretty useful.

That's cool. I've never done it that way, but I've done it by duplicating a track, bypassing the FX on one, and flipping polarity.

I'd never thought of trying it that way - I always did what Drew said - but it makes sense. You could do some really trippy stuff like only sending the removed part to a delay...

I wonder what that would sound like?
