Right now I'm trying to get my eyes off Ibanez, Jackson, ESP etc and look for something else.
Bacchus has my attention right now, which seems like almost nobody knows about (except seems decently popular in Asia), but they seem to have a very good reputation about their basses. The guitars looks cool too.
I like that they sometimes go with matched headstocks.
These two could be swapped for black pickguards / hardware and I could install an Evertune:
(my elven eyes can see that the dots are off center, but at least the "string aim" seems very good)
This one has a Gotoh Floyd (otherwise pretty much unheard of in this pricerange!) but the deal breaker is the "olympic white" instead of above guitars snow white.
Also, I'm not really looking for another Floyd guitar... Right now I just want something with Evertune... I have an unused bridge I can install myself as long as there's no recessed floyd rout.
Yeah first off it's not unknown... And it's "pearl white". That doesn't do it for me.
It's "snow white" or nothing for me. Otherwise I rather go with red, yellow or a whole different color.
Tokai makes good LP and Strat copies (the higher end models are made in Japan). I don't know about Sweden, but at least over here they're readily available both used and new.
Also I really want an Evertune bridge. I can install myself as long as the guitar doesn't have a recessed Floyd rout that needs to be filled in and then refinish the whole body... Not up for that
This Solar is the only glossy finished... Not sure if the color and stuff is too much for me tho...
If this was glossy white I would probably buy. Maybe even satin white, because that could probably be polished to a "semi gloss".
But this see-through would need more layers of white and then the logo would dissapear and yeah, too much work involved simply put.
Does that go even for the "global series" which is kind of their lower level?
The two first guitars in OP is "global series" and doesn't cost a fortune. It's not "Squier cheap" but it seems like it's seriously built guitars for sure.
Do you have any Bacchus guitars, or tried any?
They make 35" scale jazz style basses too, which I'm really interested in.
What about Vintage guitars? They dont seem to have a White model but they came up with new colors this year:
and they still sell the "old" colors:
They are very tempting, 24 frets, Wilkinson Bridge and they arent expensive at all... I wish Thomann would sell them so I could try one knowing that if I didn't liked it I would return it. Im tempted to get the Yellow one for some time now, but it wont happen that soon. Logo looks cheap as do the Truss Rod cover... but cant really complain when it has a matching Reversed Headstock
Cool, not the worst. But not the nicest looking I've seen either.
They seem to look more "60s pop" than "80s speed metal", if you know what I mean, haha.
If the guitar doesn't have a pickguard, then the volume knob needs to be further away. I dont wanna pull it out and relocate it. On a pickguard its easier to change pickguard and make up your own control layout without ruining the guitar.
24 frets is nice but seems like they didn't really think about the access to them. :ugh:
Also, they need pickup rings, that looks weird without.
Zion and Robin are both lesser known superstrat makers. Neither is still in business in their original incarnation, thought they might be kicking around in some form still, you would like their designs Rocka, since they both mostly catered to superstrats.
Lado is also lesser known, though they didn't do as many superstrats, they have cool designs though.
Edwards are awesome ..but they sure as hell are'nt cheap where I live
A few years ago (like.. 6-7 yrs) there were a lot of very decent cheap guitars around for not a lot of money, some nice Cort's, Spear Guitars etc. My Raven West super-strat is a neck through w/spalted maple top, ebony board, knock-off Schaller-style Floyd (which I thought I'd have to swap out but it works fine & holds tune exceptionally well..so I said fuck it :lol & SS frets, MIK & cost about 400 USD when I bought it back then. Plays great/looks & sounds awesome. Too bad all they seem to be selling these days are LP/Tele knock-offs..
They're still (same gtrs) being marketed as "Woodo Guitars" in ....Sweden :yesway:
Though it seems like they're spec'd more for the djent crowd now
I really regret not getting another ..they had ones with ebony tops, sycamore, bubinga etc & some cool quilted/flamed stuff as well :yesway:
Probably not your sort of thing..but I thought I'd mention them anyway
Yup I've had my eyes on Woodo Guitars too. I think they look cool. The fact that they have 5-piece necks in that price range is pretty cool.
Sure, I'm not a big sucker for "natural finishes"... But specwise they seem fine.
I would probably have a hardtail one and install an Evertune
Because
A) I'm hoepfully going to play much more live next year, I've got a couple of festival requests and hope for more soon when we start to play live.
B) A bigger label has shown interest in the band, wanting me to come over for a meeting at their office this summer in Germany
Maybe some endorsements would be in place some day.
If so, I can't go around play Warmoths, because they dont support artists at all.
And the bigger name brands like ESP, Jackson and Ibanez dont give a shit about lesser known bands.
(I know a guy who had a endorsement with Engl, which meant he would get Engl Savages handed to him on gigs on tour so he didn't have to bring his own... Guess what, despite the endorsement they didn't do it  but he also did have an Ibanez endorsement and could buy nice Ibbys for reduced price... I think he also could borrow a guitar for a tour that he had to return afterwards...)
So yeah, I know it sounds ridicolous but I'm trying to think ahead of time here.
And I'm just looking for options. If I can't find something that suits me, there's no reason to get something.
I don't need a lesson in how endorsements works because I know exactly how it works.
It's basically being a walking (touring) advertisement for a brand.
But then again, they could give exposure back and so fourth, you know.
If the label deal doesn't go through, or there's no touring next year, I guess this would be a waste of time and I can continue playing my Warmoth and just have fun with it.
But if things start to move I should consider looking for a suitable brand guitar.
