So what'd everybody think?

Through the whole last season I felt the side flashes were silly, distracting and annoying. I still feel that way. The things I would've been really interested to see explained (what is the island, what's with the light, who gets to make all these crazy rules etc) were mostly ignored, and in deciding to ignore the explanations I think some of the things they put in just got a little silly (Oh look the heart of the island...we use a cork to keep that in check). I also have some more specific plot line questions but I'll leave those for later discussion if anyone's actually still interested in lost.

I thought the finale sucked, and I think the atom bomb thing was a major shark jump. The bomb seemed to erase seasons 1-4. All of the cool shit about Lost...the Dharma Initiative, Widmore, the island mystery...wasn't mentioned. I was hoping that all of this would tie together, but now it feels like the whole series was a string of random bullshit.

The Jacob story is still really cool, but none of the show really makes sense now.

None of the stuff you listed even remotely mattered to me by the end of the series  I enjoyed the finale.
I fell in love with Lost because I am a huge X-Files fan, and the mystery and possibility of a conspiracy pulled me in. To me, the Dharma Initiative was the coolest thing about those early seasons. I was also hoping that the show wouldn't have had such a blantantly moral and religious purpose and ending...

Meh, I didn't watch the show at all until I blasted through the 5 seasons before season 6 started. I don't really mind the ending, because it's a fantasy show after all, so it had a fantasy ending

The whole season was a bit dissappointing, like I said, they jumped the shark when Julliet went boom. I like the Jacob story, sort of a twisted and reversed Cain and Abel, but its not why I loved the show.

I still say they should have traveled to the other side of the island and after a dangerous journey fraught with peril, they find Gilligan, the Skipper, Mr and Mrs Howell, the Professor, Ginger and Mary Ann. That would be awesome.

I'm not sure if that would have been better or worse than the finale.

So it turns out a bunch of fucking hack writers were controlling them? It's a shame when the creators give up on a series before the fans do.

I couldn't get into Lost. I found it to be a massive string of bullshit part way through the second series, seemed like a bunch of guys just sitting in a room going "here's an idea, lets throw that in there!"..."Yeah, that's awesome...awesome to the max...and then this could happen...."..."But that doesn't really work?"..."Who cares, we're getting paid and we don't have to explain shit!"

There is no "now". Everyone dies sooner or later. You all created this space so you could find each other again

Really? That's what it boiled down to? Season 4 was where I "lost" any sincere interest in the show. It lost its intimacy. After that, it became just another show. I stayed with it because I was already in too far, but they just ruined it with
all the forward flash, parallel realities, time travel, meaningless characters bullshit
. I was happy to learn more about the smoke monster though. Anyway, I'm glad it's done.

The title was more fitting that I could ever imagine. It created so much cool shit, then "lost" most of it.

I enjoyed the Jacob/Man In Black (Smoke Monster) conclusion. But I wished it was something more concrete and sinister, than some rehash of a bible story. It just went in the wrong direction for me...
