Lost series final discussion

So what'd everybody think?

Through the whole last season I felt the side flashes were silly, distracting and annoying. I still feel that way. The things I would've been really interested to see explained (what is the island, what's with the light, who gets to make all these crazy rules etc) were mostly ignored, and in deciding to ignore the explanations I think some of the things they put in just got a little silly (Oh look the heart of the island...we use a cork to keep that in check). I also have some more specific plot line questions but I'll leave those for later discussion if anyone's actually still interested in lost.

There was a Reddit discussion about the lost finale. Best conversation from it:

"Fucking islands, how do they work?!"
"...Magnets"
"Touche"

I couldn't get into Lost. I found it to be a massive string of bullshit part way through the second series, seemed like a bunch of guys just sitting in a room going "here's an idea, lets throw that in there!"..."Yeah, that's awesome...awesome to the max...and then this could happen...."..."But that doesn't really work?"..."Who cares, we're getting paid and we don't have to explain shit!"
That's exactly how i felt about it from the start... I think i watched just under half the first season, then a couple of random episodes later and every time I just thought "this is fucking stupid". It felt like it was going to go way to deep with the convoluted plot, and they weren't going to be able to finish it properly.
I'm sorry for bumping this, but i finally had the time to watch the last season, and right now, i'm pretty pissed about the lame ending. :-/

I never hoped that they would reveal EVERYTHING, but i really was hoping for at least some more bits of information, so at least the viewer can think of some conclusions...

Instead? A season full of lame "all you need is love" and

we all go to the religious-independent heaven

you must be fucking kidding me.
I've really enjoyed Lost, but I was really disappointed by the finale. The first few seasons were awesome with their mystery and mystic craziness, but then suddenly it just went out the window. It's almost like they completely switched gears with the last season for some reason. They answered a few questions I wanted to know the answers to, but ignored pretty much every one of the top 10 questions I wanted answered. At the end, I was like, "Wait a second. What about ___ or ___?! Aren't you going to even give us some hints about ___?!"
Exactly my thoughts. I had the feeling, that they were comlpetely ignoring most of the mysteries (which the whole series was BASED on for 5 seasons), and instead tried hard to put more depths into the single characters, and give the complete series a "moral" touch.

I was glad i got more infos about Jacob/Smokey (but did not like the Kain&Abel thing about it), but as you said - all major questions remain compeltely unanswered. Again, i wouldnt even really want them COMPLETELY answered, but jsut a few more hints here and there, so i could think about the rest myself...
