Ok, So I will have a chance to get a new guitar most likely around tax time of 2011  But was wondering what one of these three 8 strings would be worth getting.

So, what one do you guys thing would be worth getting? I'm sorta leaning toward the Schecter Mainly because it has pickups in the correct positions

but the Agile has some advantages as well, Like Longer scale and Neck thru.

Having played an Agile and an LTD, and a different Schecter, here's my thoughts:

- First off, the LTD is neck-through also.

- If the Damien is anything like the Hellraiser, the necks are beautiful. Definitely the most comfortable of the three.

- The extra scale-length might be nice, but I had no trouble with the Schecter my old guitarist has.

- The LTD definitely has the thinnest neck, if that's more your style. The Schecter felt a lot like the 7-string version, maybe a little nicer even.

- I had no trouble with the longer scale-length on the Agile, either, but then I wasn't doing any crazy stretches, really.

All three are decent options, although the EMG808 sucks balls, and you'll likely want to replace it in any of them. Seriously, I like the EMG81-7, and even kind of like the 707 for what it is, but the 808 just sounds terrible compared to the 707.

I've played a couple of the Damien Elite 8s, and they're very comfortable...for me, the most comfortable neck out of all the 8-strings I've tried. I haven't yet spent enough time with one to form a strong opinion on the sound of it, but I'm planning to get one relatively soon.

Nice. So basicly it would be more on what I want/can afford, And I was thinking if I went with the Damien I could always get Blackouts or something to swap out. and wouldn't be spending alot of cash on modding a more expensive guitar. I have played the RG2228 before and the 808's in it didnt bother me too much.

you guys don't think the 26.5" scale on the Damien would be to short? I more then likely wouldn't be playing anything lower then F# anyways but I have been hearing alot of people say that the scale of the Schecters wasn't good for a F#

My Septor 727 was an awesome guitar. My Intrepid wasn't quite as nice.

I dont want to make an ignorant blanket statement, but I think the reason they get hyped so much at ss.org is because the board is full of teenagers that cant really afford(or get their parents to affort) anything but agiles.

In my experience, I had a schecter 007 elite, and that guitar was friggin awesome. I wish i hadnt sold it.
But then again, i had a septor 27'' with an evo/an combo, it was a nice guitar too. It sounded nice, but it felt cheap and like it was made by the fingers of baby chinamen

Honestly, I have to ask what you need an eight for. In my experience, all of them are too short for the F#, and most are too long for the high E. I cannot see myself playing a simple scale length eight. I'd get one of the compound scale length Agiles and play with it, see if you can get used to the feel of fanned frets, and then shop a custom instrument.

no real need for one just want one  i have played the rg2228 and it waas pretty sweet. when i played it, as for faned frets i was thinking about picking up the pendlum to try out faned frets but the pickup placement is the main issue with those.

KxK does fanned frets doesn't he?

Honestly, the reason for that IMO is Kurt's customer service. They started out as just really good guitars for the money (particular their LP style guitars - you can get surprisingly decent ones for like $200), but Kurt was very attentive to customer interest, let the site get involved in specing out the first Interceptor, did a whole bunch of small runs and custom orders for members, and was always excellent at after-the-sale service and returns if customers were unhappy. He built a heck of a lot of brand loyalty for a budget brand, and IMO he deserves it.

ok cool. by the way why isn't the email notifaction working?
If by that you mean the email notification on this forum, the answer is we don't want you to have an email notify you whenever someone responds to this thread because we want you to instead spend all day here habitually hitting refresh and waiting, hooked, like a heroin junkie at a methodone clinic. :agreed:
