Oranges are expensive though. I think a Mesa Stiletto cab would do just fine. Didn't they rename the old "standard" cabs to Stiletto cabs?
Yes.

I've got one of each--a Stiletto cab and a Rectifier cab--and the Recto cab sits in my basement, waiting for someone to buy it. If you're playing hard rock, slamming big open chords, or stoner/doom, where you want maximum sludge, they're really great cabs. They sound positively monstrous. However, the bass response is so massive and boomy, that it just doesn't work for fast, accurate metal rhythm. Division is a pretty thrashy band, so the tight low end I get from my Stiletto cab is a must. I also use C90s, for the same reason, since V30s aren't as tight on the bottom, so aren't the best match for the looser low end of the Stiletto. They work better with Rectos, especially the dark Roadster, but you have to break them in first.

Funny thing Dave, you complain about the oversized sounding worse then that stiletto cab I sold you, but honestly, since the oversized is a slant (slant with a straight front) and the stiletto is a complete straight front, they are not much different when it comes to internal volume, very minimal, actually when I had my blue suede straight front stiletto and then got my oversized, side by side i Found them almost identical in sound, where my slant stiletto is defintly different.

Let your ears decide people on which cab you like better, there is a ubercab as well as a stiletto and oversized here.

Ah, time #50137608 that you and I have this discussion...

I never said it sounded worse. I just doesn't work as well for what I do. It is funny how something that is subtle in a one guitar band will be amplified in a two guitar band, and that cab was one of those things. Two guys playing together are going to generate a natural chorusing, so smaller cabs just tend to work better together. You want that extra bit of punch. Plus, I stand on the side of the bassist, and the bigger cab made me sort of melt into him, which makes it no fun trying to hear yourself on stage. I'm also not much of a fan of slant cabs.

I'm not going to do the listen to some dude playing a video blind taste test, since I already know what it works for me. I have to be the one playing it, and in a band setting, to know if it is gonna work or not.

I always loved that Uberkab of yours, though. It was a fantastic sounding cab.

I think Dave prefers his sag to come from his pickups, vs. from a looser cab sound.
I really don't think my pickups sag that much. They're just lacking that sort of processed, hi-fi sound that you get out of actives. In a way, all passives are a bit looser, but to me, that is the natural sound of the guitar. My sevens have so much maple in them, I feel actives would simply rip all the "thwump" out of the low end.

I'll never call myself a fan of the percussive sort of rhythm sound so many guys are going for right now. I always wanted the thick chunk that the early thrash guys went for, and consequently, that's exactly what I get. I'm actually think James sounded best with the Gibson Explorer that didn't have EMGs in it.

Back when he was still using Mesa, we opened for Testament, and he was touring with the standard sized cabs. Skolnick was using a Marshall Mode 4 (WTF?) and standard sized Marshall cabs. Now, Peterson is using the 5150 III, with the (you guessed it) 5150 III cabs that are standard sized.

Just saying you never played them side by side for long periods of time like i did. I understand the sound you hear on stage might be different with each cab, but that is what you get with one cab that shoots up at your ears and that is also taller to get to your ears compared to another cab that shoots at your knees and waist.

As to recorded clips I prefer hearing them over sitting in front of a cab if it is done correct, because that is what everyone else hears out in the audience and on stage.
You don't really play sevens, dude. The difference between an standard and oversized is much more pronounced when you start chunking away on the low B. It is much too woofy for my tastes.

We're playing a lot of smaller venues these days, which means we don't Mike cabs. Consequently, it has become all about how the cab sounds in the room, and not how it sounds mic'ed. We could argue all day about V30s and Rectos, but it's irrelevant to me, since I'm not playing Rectos right now. V30s are way, way too bright for a Stiletto.

I will never like slant cabs. I don't like the sound of two speakers aimed at my head.
