:agreed:
I honestly don't even understand why people worry about how it sounds in the room anyway.
Because when you play, you want to hear yourself with a good sound? I dont think i could have so much fun with my band when i wouldnt love my (and therefor also OUR) sound.

How something sounds under a mic is more important IMHO because ultimately that's the battlefield the cab is going to have to contend with in a serious situation.
Again, there are manymany Recto OS cab lovers out there...and these seem to REALLY work with SOME amps. Also in the studio of course. FWIW: We recorded out last record recently, and had about 5 different V30-loaded cabs we did reamping through. Again, the Mesa OS was simply not good sounding. I would need to turn the Bass and Deep knob on the amp to zero to make it somewhere acceptable. But why should i? The low end from my amp is so much more awesome than lowend produced by a cab...

I think you completely misunderstood me.

What a guitarist likes hearing and what sounds better in the mix are two different things.
I never said anything different. I was responding to Harry, because he stated why anyone would care of his sound un-miced and unrecorded. I simply stated that i DO care for the unmiced and unrecorded sound, because I like my sound good. In fact, I only play my amp in the Band (at home i use either PODFarm or my old combo), and the only sound i care for with it IS the band-sound.

To your second response, you can put all that bass in if you want, but I bet your bass player is either not heard or you dont have one, there is no reason to do the metallica (AJFA) when recording or playing live, the highest my bass will go on my roadking while playing with a bassisit is 11 oclock on the dial and it never woofs out my cab. If your cab is woofing out that bad I am going to assume you either have a cab that needs some servicing or you just do not EQ correct.
I never was and never will be a "scooper", nor do i CRANK bass/deep...but there is a difference between "having the Bass knob cranked" and "having some low-end in the sound".

I know how to EQ my amp, no worries. And our basisst can be heard by anyone in the band very clearly.

If the cab works for you, perfect, fine - that doesnt mean it works with every other amp out there, nor does it fit any taste. It clearly doesnt work for me, in combination with the Diezel its horrible. The standard-sized cab worked pretty well with Savage back then when I used it, actually, the OS worked also not bad with the Engl, still i preferred the standard.
