So I've held off on doing this for a while, mostly because I've been busy and also because I really haven't had a lot of time with the thing. I sold the Rg1527 as everybody knows and I actually ended up buying an Agile Septor 827 in black quilt. For the money I am EXTREMELY impressed with this guitar. The neck is a bolt on maple neck and the shape is a D shape but very comfortable, the fretwork on the guitar is top-notch, almost as good as the Prestige I had in the Rg1527, no buzzing or dead spots or anything like that. The rosewood grain of the fretboard is amazing and took a few minutes getting used to a blank fretboard but so far I'm able to use it still with no troubles. The reverse inline headstock looks fucking badass with very nice Grover tuners, that actually fit the 72 gauge I'm using for the F#! The 27" scale feels really nice, good tension on all the strings. I put on a set of La Bella 9-12-15-22-30-40-54-72 gauge strings for a balanced tension, didn't have to make any tweaks to the trussrod, just some slight tweaking to the action/intonation/pickup height. The quilted maple top on here looks AMAZING, I don't care if it's veneer or not it looks incredible.
Now given I haven't even plugged this guy into my main 6505+ rig yet to try it out, but just jamming with it at home so far has been really fun. The stock Cepheus pickups actually sound REALLY good! and I don't plan on using the F# much but if I do, you know what? It actually sounds pretty clear. Is 27" scale ideal for the F#? not for me, but it's not ideal for me on the higher registers for soloing either. 27" scale to me is a nice compromise between getting clarity on the F# and keeping the higher registers from becoming too shrill or harsh.
I couldn't find a 7 that I liked, but I found this 8. And even if I don't use the F# it's there if I want it and this is as close as I can get to a "perfect" 7 for me anyways. If you guys are curious about these guitars, I'd HIGHLY recommend checking them out, it worked out in the best for me! I sure hope my gear whoring ends soon, this is getting tiring and expensive! I just want to find a guitar I can stick with!
