I'm looking for a new bridge pickup for my Schecter Omen 6 (with a basswood body).
My amp is a Peavey Bandit 112, which has alot of great gain, but I want a deeper, more raunchy "chugga-chugga" sound.
I've primarily been looking at the Seymour Duncan Invader and the DiMarzio X2N.
I'm also getting a Danelectro Black Paisley Liquid Metal pedal for the same reason.

So, my question is, which pickup would you recommend for a deeper, more raunchy, growly, "chugga-chugga" sound for a guitar with a basswood body?
My price range is about 80-90 euros.

I had a Walnut Satin Omen 6 a few years ago. I put in an X2N and it got really chuggy. I'd recommend that.

Be careful, they're POWERFUL and easy to get wolf tones. Don't put them too close to the strings. You don't have to with these.

I'm really considering the X2N! Other than that, I really think the D-sonic sounds compelling.

The Duncan Custom has some great low-mid roar too. Never had one in basswood though.

I had a Custom 7 in my old 7420 and it sounded great. Lots of chugging going on! One of my favorite pickups. Sounds really good split into a single too.

I'm usually a Seymour guy myself, but I haven't had good luck with basswood which is why I chose the X2N. I did tune pretty low and later learned about the D-Sonic. Might wanna give the a try instead since it's made for lower tunings if that's what you're going for.

If you're only going a step down I don't think its really going to matter that much.

i like both of those pickups, and while they work ok in basswood, i find them better suited to brighter guitars (ie, alder, maple, ash, etc...).

the Invader is definitely deeper and growlier, while the X2N has more bite and sizzle. both pickups have an obscene amount of low end.

As you've got a basswood guitar I'd suggest staying away from Duncans. They're good pickups, but Dimarzio's work better in basswood. Having said that, I can't really recommend any as I've had very little experience with Dimarzio 6 string pickups. What I will say though as I'd highly recommend saving up to replace your amp at some point once you're got your new pickup. Forget the pedal, put that money towards a new amp. I had a bandit and they're ok, but that's about it. Obviously I realise not everyone's made of money (hell, I'm not now :lol: ), but that'd be my call.

I have a Super Distortion in my Strat, and it's a great pickup, but it's not exactly a "thick" or "chunky" sounding pickup. Sounds great for rock, or classic metal, but isn't quite thick enough for modern metal on its own.
