The fade is definitely abrupt...thing is, the full version of this song is nearly twice as long, and the single edit cuts out a good bit. If that fade went any longer, it would go into the last verse, and that would have sounded weird.

Personally, I probably would have gone about it an entirely different way...instead of taking the full version and just cutting parts out, I probably would have taken out vocals where they weren't needed for the edit version, and ended up with a different mix entirely.

The other possibility with the existing mix would have simply been to start the fade earlier.
