So i am going to be playing out at a pretty big festival date this year (summer fest), its one of the biggest music festivals in the world.

I am playing guitar with the band Hedda (im their 2nd live guitarist)

I have never played anything even close to this size before.

Im thinking of doing a a pretty basic 2x12 + ENGL (and my FX)

Is there anything special i need to know for doing festival's? Any equipment i need or am missing? They (Summer Fest) didn't really tell us what to expect.

If any one can make it, come see us (ill have the date pretty soon)

they mid cabinets, you don't even need more than one, if you have them it's for appearance that's all.

(at least here in germany) there always guitar cabs as part of the backline. i've actually never taken my own cab on stage so far. the details about the backline that should be in your contract with the festival ;)

 About the only reason I can think of for going with a 4x12 instead of a 2x12 is you might be able to hear yourself better on stage, but chances are they'll have a decent monitor setup there anyways.
on bigger festivals there are (mostly) functional monitors, so you won't need your 4x12 to hear yourself like when playing at the local bar

Cool thing, man i have been practicing my ass of learning these songs, one of them has a 8 finger tapping part (and i am new to this technique) time to buckle down and learn :metal:

Anyway, go backstage and you'll see alot of combo amps with an SM57 right to cable snake to mixing board. Legendary performances have been recorded this way, Randy Rhoads for instance, with something like a 30watt ampeg combo lol
big festivals = insane amount of energy/monitor action so you're definitely not relying on a bunch of cabinets. Bring the 2x12, you're fine. They'll prolly have a wall of cabs behind you for show anyway.
its cool

Take the 2x12, and if you have to use it, aim it towards your face. Then, you won't have to rely on the monitors to hear yourself. It means you'll probably be putting the amp on the ground, or on top of someone else's gear, but hearing yourself without drowning out your bandmates is paramount.

"mid the cabinets"??????

Ok, dunce cap on, what does this mean?
It was a typo dude  Yeah, I'd say just take the 2x12 and be done. I'll find a vid of my old band for you later and I only used a 1x15 combo
