NAD ... 5150ii Halfstack!!!

Since I've joined a new band there has been a severe lack of low end clarity coming from my 1983 JCM800 2204. We play mostly in drop C, in the genre of metalcore (kinda). I started the hunt for an amp better suited for my needs, and today it ended!

I Was able to try the Peavey 6505 and 6534, a mesa dual rec, a randall rm100, and a mesa mark IV. While they all sounded great the peavey 6505 still gave me the most of what I was looking for. Thanks to the dudes on this forum, the online reviews, and y-tube vids etc, I determined that the 5150ii was what I was looking for, and scooped a used one off kijiji.

The seller wouldn't separate the halfstack so I just bought the whole thing .. A little overkill for the rehearsal studio but meh .

The marshall cab was mine from before - 1936 vintage 2x12 with celestian v30's.

Do every metalcore band use 6505's?
No, but they're very popular. But it's a very popular amp all around. That's like saying 'do every metalcore band use Slinky strings?' or 'do every metalcore band use tortex picks?'
Nice. Welcome to the club, Enjoy. :yesway::metal:

Nice score man! II/+ versions are definitely superior IMO :agreed:

Can't go wrong with a Les Paul into a 5150 for the style of music you're playing. :yesway:

Nice buy, you'll love it. You better not tell me you sold a 1983 JCM 800 for this thing though :squint:

If all you're after is skull-crushing metal crunch, a 5150 of any ilk is VERY hard to beat. :yesway:
