Ipod Touch - video finally, I actually really like this one and have been waiting for the update to decide if I want it or a iPhone, this makes the decision hard.

Ipod Nano - it has a clip, hahahahahahaha, the old one has a video camera, I would not call this an upgrade.

Ipod shuffle - meh

Appletv - I still don't see the point.

Ping - bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.....

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.... Apples attempt at social networking...... hahahahahahahahahahahahaha.....

I'm never impressed by the "iTunes lineup" at all anymore...
 which one of these is magical?
So AppleTV still can't stream your own media, right? :noway:
Yeah, the whole "Ping" thing is just stupid. They should have just integrated it with existing social media instead of trying to reinvent the wheel.

The new Touch looks pretty awesome.

I believe it will find all the media you've got on your Mac or PC and will stream that to your TV.

I'm really tempted to buy one of these now.
I have a Nano. Somewhere... I put it down after getting home from snowboarding over the winter, and haven't seen it since.

So a $99 pseudo-HTPC? There has to be a catch.

Edit:

I dunno, I don't see anything that hints that you can stream your own media. It looks like it all has to be via iTunes.
Face to Face thing on the iPod touch is bad-fucking-ass for people that use Skype.
The iPod Touch does look really nice. And very thin.
I would have preferred that they leave the Touch a little thicker and just pack the thing with batteries so it'll last a week.

Apple - Apple TV - Rent HD movies and TV shows, stream Netflix, and more

For $99, it won't cost you too much to find out. And if it doesn't work how you want, you can sell it to me! Win-win! :D

Did you see this part?

Apple said:
Channel surf, tap, and flick with the Remote app.
Control Apple TV using your iPhone or iPod touch. Download the Remote app free from the App Store. And with a flick of your finger, you can rent new movies and TV shows, scroll through the Netflix catalog, and browse your media collection. Remote uses the same easy-to-use interface you already use to browse music and video on your Multi-Touch device. So right away, you know how to navigate. If you want to find something specific, use your device's QWERTY keyboard to quickly tap out the title instead of clicking letters on the Apple TV screen. Then keep tapping to play, fast-forward, rewind, and pause to your finger's content.
That's pretty sweet right there.

I have two Minis that say I don't need one.
The Apple TV only supports streaming through iTunes, and it does not support all formats last time I tried mine. It's an iPod for your TV, and I think it's pretty shitbox compared to a Mac Mini.

Basically, that's what it looks like to me too. Cool if you actually have a lot of iTunes media, and not a bad way to get your music collection into your home theater.

But until I can import all of the mp4/mkv/DVD ISO's that I have into iTunes and play them all, it's exactly that, just an iPod for your TV.
I don't torrent a lot of stuff, so it would probably work well for my needs.

I don't torrent anything. I use the U-word. That magic place that we don't talk about.

It's also 1/6 the price of a Mac Mini. And since I have over 100 DVD movies already encoded to AppleTV compatible H264, I think it'll work nicely for $100.

I use the Logitech version of that app on my iPhone for Plex, it's in the HTPC thread. :yesway: You can do it with a Touch, too.
You can stream any video you want with an AppleTV...

if its in .mp4 or .m4v
