I'm thinking about changing my guitars (ltd MH301) and I was looking at the new soloist - they are much cheaper than the older ones so there is also dramatic difference in playing/tone?
Almost everyone here will say 80/90's and for good reason. SL_'s from that era slay. My personal favorites are SLSMG's, and Soloist XL's.USA Soloist? Because they have not gotten cheaper price wise
I do like the late 80's early 90's better...but i'm sure that just because that was my era. They do feel better to me though.
They should sell both models because I hate those hss 22-fret models :lol:I really wish they'd go back to the short-horn pre-1992 Dinky body style instead of the "bolt-on Soloist" look they've got going now. It was a really great look that better bridged the traditional Strat and the modern Superstrat shapes.
Couldn't agree more! Should be able to find one for about $700 and it will blow any new Mexican Soloist out of the waterLook for the early 90s MIJ Jackson Professional XLs. They're about the same price as a new SL2, and they're as good as the USA models. They stopped making them because they were as good as the USAs, and were half the price.
