Looking forward to the album after listening to this. I agree with Crooks, APP is their best but they haven't really released any bad albums, maybe a couple of mediocre ones.

I started listening at NBC and still love it. FNF just pissed me off. Love STD :flex:. I'm gonna have to pick up a copy of APP, never listened to that one. Not sure what to make of the new song.

APP is a lot heavier than the later stuff. It's still very clearly descended from Slaughter of the Soul, where the later stuff pulls in some more diverse influences.

Man, I'm really liking this track. The song writing's interesting, Dirk is beasting it, and it's got clean singing over blasts (which I think is incredibly effective if done right). Hopefully, the rest of the album will stand up to the precedent set here.

Edit: Oh yeah, and a breakdown that actually follows a significant build-up. Not exactly a common occurrence, these days.

I do! But my gut reaction is that this Soilwork track is pulling it off a bit better. Strid's soaring vocals and Dirk's borderline out-of-control blasts make those moments pretty fucking epic, in my books.

I think I prefer it in The Lotus Eater. The whole arrangement and harmony there sounds a bit more brutal, which contrasts more effectively with the clean singing. That's not the only gig in town, I just happen to prefer that.

I'm right there with you. I liked the shit out of Figure Number Five, but that's probably because I really like the number 5. Stabbing the Drama is where it pretty much ended for me. I didn't get into anything after that.

Honestly there's like 6 songs in their entire discography I actually like that AREN'T on natural born chaos. That album is gold start to finish.
